101-year-old Vietnamese Heroic Mother still recites and composes poetry
(Baonghean.vn) - Although she is 101 years old, Vietnamese Heroic Mother Cao Thi Dot in Hamlet 8, Ngoc Son Commune (Do Luong) is still lucid and can read many long poems fluently.

Born in 1917, in Phuc Hau village, Lam Son commune, later her mother married and moved to Ngoc Son commune (Do Luong). All her life, she clung to the village, clung to the fields, and worked hard to raise 10 children to adulthood. Among them, 2 children died for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
In December 2014, Dot's mother was awarded the title of Vietnamese Heroic Mother by President Truong Tan Sang. In the spring of 2018, the Vietnam Association of the Elderly sent her a congratulatory letter "101 years old".

Despite her advanced age, Mother Dot is still very lucid. She can enthusiastically recite many long poems, including poems she composed herself. Her voice is clear, crisp, and concise. Typical examples include “Good Luck Vu Lan”, “My Family”, “Communist Party”… Among these very old poems, each one emphasizes profound humanity.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thi - the third child who is currently taking care of and supporting his mother added: My mother lived a very simple life, was a kind, honest woman, and worked hard to raise her children. My father was a soldier fighting against the French, my mother had 2 children who were martyrs: Nguyen Viet Binh (born 1948) died in 1968 on the Quang Tri battlefield; Nguyen Van Vi (born 1957), died on the Laos battlefield, I am a war invalid. In addition to the 9 children my mother gave birth to, she also adopted another child.
Mother Dot recounted: In 1945, famine occurred across the country, lost and orphaned children were gathered in a camp, mother adopted a 10-year-old son, named Nguyen Van Cam. Then when he grew up, he joined the army, returned to his hometown in Quang Tri, a long time ago also came to visit his mother, now also passed away.
Now 101 years old, Dot's mother is still lucid, speaks wittily, has good hearing, sharp eyes, does her own things and helps her children and grandchildren with housework.
