Simple tips to detoxify and remove pesticides from vegetables, tubers and fruits

With just ingredients available in the kitchen and extremely simple steps, you can effectively detoxify food.

According to the Center for Science and Environment (CSE), high levels of pesticide residue on fruits can cause toxins in the body, harming the nervous system. In addition, it can also affect the reproductive organs and even cause cancer.

If you regularly feed your children and family fruits and vegetables, think about removing chemical residues before processing and consuming. Below are some methods to remove pesticides and preservatives from fruits and vegetables naturally with common ingredients right in your kitchen.

1. Soak fruits and vegetables in vinegar

Vinegar is one of the most effective ingredients for removing germs and pesticides from fruits and vegetables because it has strong antibacterial properties. Simply dilute 10% white vinegar with 90% water and soak your fruits and vegetables in it. Let it soak for about 10 minutes, stirring the fruits and vegetables thoroughly during this time. Finally, rinse with cooled boiled water.

2. Baking soda

This is a great way to naturally and effectively clean fruits and vegetables that contain pesticide residue. Pour 5 large cups of water (about 1.5 liters of water) into a specialized vegetable washing basin, add 4 teaspoons of baking soda and stir well.

Then, soak the vegetables and fruits in this solution and leave the mixture for 15 minutes. Finally, use a towel to dry the fruit and it can be used. For vegetables, just soak the mixture for 5-7 minutes and then rinse with clean water.

3. Turmeric

Due to its powerful antiseptic properties, turmeric can also be used to effectively remove germs and pesticides from vegetables. Simply add 5 teaspoons of turmeric powder to a pot of boiling water (depending on the amount of fruit you want to soak), stir well and let the turmeric water cool completely.

Then, soak the fruits and vegetables for 15 minutes. Rinse again with clean water. The fruits and vegetables are now safe for the whole family.
