A class in Luong has nearly half of the students passing the 10th grade entrance exam to a specialized school.
(Baonghean.vn) - This school year, nearly 50% of the students in class 9A - Ly Nhat Quang Secondary School (Do Luong) were admitted to Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted and Vinh University High School for the Gifted. Many of them have difficult circumstances and have made efforts to improve themselves.
"Overcoming difficulties" to study well...
Truong Cong Canh - a small, shy and quiet student is the most prominent face in this year's exam season of Ly Nhat Quang Secondary School when he just won the second place in the Math class - Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted.

Receiving this result, Canh was quite surprised, but the teachers who taught Canh all thought that this was completely deserved. Before that, since primary school, although both parents were farmers, the family was near-poor and the house was far from town, Canh was known for being hard-working and good at studying. In grade 5, Canh won first prize in the district's math competition.
With this achievement, Canh was also admitted to Ly Nhat Quang Secondary School. During his 4 years at school, although he had to go to school every day because his house was far away, Canh was always a diligent student and was in the top of his class. For many consecutive years, he won prizes at the district's excellent student competition. In 8th grade, Canh participated in the Hanoi Open Mathematics Competition (Math competition in English) and excellently won a Silver Medal even though English was not the strength of village school students. Also in this school year, Canh participated in the qualifying round of the International Mathematics Competition for Young People - IMC and won the national valedictorian position. However, due to difficult family circumstances, Canh "missed" the competition in Singapore and did not have the opportunity to bring the medal back to the school.
In grade 9, Canh also continued to "miss" the Provincial Excellent Student Math Competition due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic. Therefore, when registering for the exam at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, Canh was quite worried because he had not had much experience.
Therefore, when he found out that he had achieved the second place, Canh was extremely happy. Previously, in the 10th grade entrance exam, Canh's base score was also quite high with 9.6 points in English, 8.5 points in Literature and 9.75 in Math. The only thing Canh regretted was his Math score because after finishing, Canh confidently gave himself a score of 10, but maybe because "his presentation score was not good" so the result was not as expected.
Currently, after being admitted to the specialized Math class, Canh aims to join the national team like his brother (who was an excellent student in National Informatics) and be admitted to university.

Besides Canh, Dang Huu Khanh is also an excellent student in the class and has just been named in the list of the Math class - Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted.
Khanh lives in Thuan Son commune, and his circumstances are very difficult because his father unfortunately had a work accident and now has to use a wheelchair. Also because of his difficult circumstances, in grade 5, although he was the valedictorian of the Math exam at the district's excellent student competition, Khanh intended not to go to town to study at a specialized school. Later, thanks to the support of his siblings and teachers, Khanh tried hard and achieved the title of excellent student every year. At the Hanoi Open Math Competition in grade 8, Khanh also won a Silver Medal.

The special thing is that, despite having very good results, Khanh hardly takes extra classes, only studies in class and studies at home. Khanh himself is always aware that he has to study well, not only for himself but also to please his parents and have a better future.
The miracle of Luong students
The 2019-2020 school year was a year of many ups and downs for senior students, including 9A students at Ly Nhat Quang Secondary School, due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic.
However, the time when students have to take a break from school for many months is also the time when the whole class has to try to "overcome difficulties" because at that time, in addition to the pressure of the final exam, 9A students are also trying hard for the Provincial Excellent Student Competition.

Recalling the 3 months of online learning, teacher Phan Thi Thanh Nhan - homeroom teacher of class 9A shared: When it first started, both teachers and students had difficulties because more than half of the students in the class lived far from the center and the auxiliary equipment for organizing teaching and learning was also uneven. Even so, we still tried to organize teaching and learning regularly, every day the teachers taught new lessons, then gave out assignments and corrected exercises directly for each student. During the 3 months off school, the class's learning was never interrupted and the students still had time to improve and enhance their knowledge.
Previously, this course of Ly Nhat Quang Secondary School was the first course to be admitted to the school instead of taking an entrance exam like other school years. Therefore, when receiving the class, the homeroom teacher and subject teachers were quite worried and it took a while to be able to properly assess the students' abilities. Fortunately, despite the unfavorable starting point, the class made great efforts and continuously achieved high results in their studies for 4 years. Particularly in the 10th grade entrance exam, the class had 42 students, all 42 students had an entrance exam score of over 40 points.

Over the past school years, teachers and the school have worked together to help many disadvantaged students of class 9A. In response, the students have all worked hard and achieved outstanding results. Photo: MH |
Of which, up to now, 18 students have passed the entrance exam to Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted and 1 student has passed the entrance exam to Vinh University High School for the Gifted. The percentage of students passing the entrance exam to the Math, Physics, Chemistry and Biology specialized classes is also over 90%. Of which, 6 students in the Math specialized class have passed the entrance exam. Among the students with high scores, there are quite a few female students such as Nguyen Thi Le Na (Math specialized class), Nguyen Thi Khanh Thu (Chemistry specialized class). Khanh Thu was also a student who won a Bronze Medal at the International Mathematics Competition for Young People - IMC in Singapore in 2019.
With the achievements of class 9A, it contributes to making Ly Nhat Quang Secondary School one of the schools with the best teaching and learning quality in the province, in which the admission score for grade 10 is ranked 2nd in the province.

From these solid foundations, we believe that the school's students will continue to develop and reap many other sweet fruits in the coming school years, especially in creating a source for the excellent student team of specialized schools and the province.
