Young father sentenced to 17 years in prison for illegal drug trafficking
(Baonghean.vn) - Nguyen Anh Tu confessed to selling drugs to get money to buy diapers and milk for his child. At the trial, the young father presented his difficult circumstances, foolish wife and young child to ask for a lighter sentence.
On May 11, Nghe An Provincial People's Court opened the first instance trial of defendant Nguyen Anh Tu (20 years old), residing in Tam Hop commune, Quy Hop district, for the crime of illegal drug trafficking.
According to the indictment, at around 11:00 a.m. on November 28, 2022, Nguyen Anh Tu rode his motorbike to the Ban Ve hydroelectric area in Tuong Duong district to buy drugs. Through a Thai ethnic person standing on the side of the road, Tu went to a drug-selling camp on the hill. Here, Tu bought many packages of pink drugs and heroin for 17 million VND.

After that, Tu brought the drugs home to hide. Not long after, Tu sold the drugs to a customer twice for 800,000 VND.
Tu's actions were exposed on December 1, 2022, when the Quy Hop District Police working group searched Tu's house and discovered many packages of drugs with a total weight of more than 60 grams.
At the trial, the defendant admitted to illegally buying and selling drugs. The defendant said that due to circumstances, he sold drugs to get money to buy diapers and milk for his child. Tu also presented his circumstances of having lost his father, his mother being sick, his wife and young children, asking the court to consider reducing his sentence.
After a comprehensive review of the case, the People's Court sentenced Nguyen Anh Tu to 17 years in prison for illegal drug trafficking.
As for the drug sellers and buyers of Tu, because the defendant did not know their background or specific address, the investigation agency had no basis to consider and handle them.
