Heavy rain, rapidly rising flood waters cut off many areas in Thanh Chuong

From the night of October 28 and 29, heavy rain occurred in Thanh Chuong district, causing flooding in some mountainous and low-lying communes in the district.local, some routes weresplit, many households were isolated.

In Thanh Thuy commune, since the morning of October 29, the spillways in the area such as the bridge in Thuy Hoa village, the bridge through Thanh Khe commune, the bridge to the Youth Volunteer Force 5 Team... have all been flooded, causing local isolation. The spillway in Thuy Hoa village alone has water nearly 2m high and flows rapidly.

Mr. Nguyen Hung Cuong (44 years old), a resident of the 5th Youth Volunteer Corps, Thanh Thuy commune, said that the overflow bridge at the Duom intersection was flooded more than 2 meters deep, the water flowed violently, isolating 60 households living here.

At the communeResettlementNgoc Lam, rainwater has deeply flooded the road to Tan Ngoc village, making it impossible for people to pass. The stream water rose quickly and flowed rapidly, flooding some spillways and hard bridges, causing many inter-commune and inter-village roads to be cut off.

Mr. Nguyen Khanh Thanh - Chairman of Thanh Xuan Commune People's Committee said that at this time, some spillways in the commune were flooded and impassable, and flash floods occurred in the Cua Ong dam area, damaging many areas of people's crops.

Due to heavy rain and strong winds, many trees fell on the roads, some trees were uprooted and fell on houses, causing roofs to collapse. People are currently recovering in the rain.

At 3:30 p.m. this afternoon, the water level of the Ro River was rising rapidly, with a risk of flooding and flash floods in hamlet 10 and some areas of hamlet 9 (old), Thanh Khe commune. The commune authorities have requested the above two areas to evacuate children, the elderly, the sick as well as some households in hamlets 1, 2, 3, 4 (old) at risk of landslides and need to evacuate people and property to a safe place.

Many roads and bridges in communes such as Thanh Thinh, Thanh Nho, Thanh Lam, Thanh Hoa... are also partially flooded.

In the area where it is raining heavily, the water level of rivers and streams is rising rapidly. Local authorities and organizations have assigned forces to be on duty, set up barriers, and advised people not to go through deeply flooded areas to prevent accidents and risks.

On the afternoon of October 29, some schools in the area also allowed students to take a break from school activities, asking parents to carefully manage their children to avoid drowning accidents during the rainy and stormy season.

At Vo Liet 1 Primary School, facing the risk of flooding due to the rapidly rising Ro River, the school mobilized forces to move all files, documents, and machinery to the 2nd floor to prevent incidents.
