One of the key tasks of the Central Internal Affairs Commission in 2018 is to preside over the implementation of the project to control the power and responsibility of leaders.

The conference to review the work of 2017 and deploy the tasks of 2018 of the Central Internal Affairs Commission was held on the afternoon of January 5 in Hanoi.

The report at the conference said that in 2017, the Central Internal Affairs Commission chaired and assisted the Central Steering Committee on anti-corruption in deploying 8 inspection and supervision teams for anti-corruption work in 20 provinces.

The Central Internal Affairs Committee also proposed that the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption direct strict handling and severe sentences for many major cases, and complete the investigation stage to prepare for trial for 9 cases, including the Trinh Xuan Thanh case.

In 2018, the Central Internal Affairs Commission will preside over and coordinate with agencies of the National Assembly, the Government, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front to implement a project to control the power and responsibility of leaders when performing tasks, powers, and accountability, ensuring democracy, publicity, and transparency to prevent corruption.

With the task of being the standing agency of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption, the Central Internal Affairs Committee will also monitor and urge to accelerate the progress of investigation, prosecution and trial of 15 cases and 8 incidents; focus on urgently concluding the investigation and prosecution to bring a number of key cases to trial by early February 2018 at the latest.

In particular, continue to focus on advising the Steering Committee to speed up the investigation, prosecution, and trial of particularly serious and complicated corruption and economic cases that are of public concern.

The Central Internal Affairs Committee also set out the task of researching, proposing and implementing solutions to deal with the situation of "petty corruption" in society...

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Phan Dinh Trac - Head of the Central Internal Affairs Committee, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption stated that the Central Internal Affairs Committee will follow up on cases and incidents, advise and direct the removal of difficulties and obstacles, and further speed up the handling of particularly serious, complicated, and prolonged corruption and economic cases.

Mr. Phan Dinh Trac also noted that the Central Internal Affairs Committee should coordinate with the prosecution agencies to select a number of typical cases and incidents to summarize and draw lessons from.

He also reminded that one of the tasks of the Central Internal Affairs Committee this year is to preside over and coordinate with the Government Inspectorate and the State Audit to inspect and review the inspection and audit of 12 long-term loss-making projects that are of public concern.
