Young man robs foreign tourist's phone and gets prison sentence

On the morning of July 29, the Provincial People's Court opened a first-instance criminal trial to try the case of Robbery against Nguyen Duc Hung (born in 1987, residing in Tam Quang commune, Tuong Duong).

According to the indictment, on the morning of March 27, 2016, Hung met Le Xuan Thinh (born in 1982, residing in Dien Chau). Thinh invited Hung to go to Vinh city to play, Hung agreed. At Dien Chau intersection, Thinh got out of the car to go home and change clothes, and arranged to meet Hung in Vinh. Hung moved to sit next to Mo Zhusen (a foreigner). Hung observed and remembered the password to open Mo Zhusen's phone, so he had the idea of ​​robbing this person's phone.

When the bus reached Nghi Yen commune, seeing that the road was deserted, Hung asked to get off the bus. As soon as the bus door opened, Hung stood up, snatched the phone from Mo Shusen's hand, jumped out of the bus, and ran into the pine hill area.

The bus attendant chased after the driver but couldn't catch up, then reported to Nghi Loc District Police.

After stealing the phone, Hung took a taxi home. On March 29, Nghi Loc District Police issued an emergency arrest warrant for Hung. The investigation agency also seized the phone and returned it to the victim.

It is known that Hung was previously addicted to drugs and was taken to rehab by his family. He has just been released from the rehab center for about 2 months.

At the trial, Hung confessed his crime and said he intended to rob the foreign guest's property for his own use.

Considering the entire case, the People's Court sentenced Nguyen Duc Hung to 12 months in prison for robbery.
