Under the guise of exercises, NATO is concentrating troops in countries bordering Russia, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Colonel General Alexander Fomin said.

"Under the cover of exercises, NATO countries are concentrating troops, heavy equipment and armored vehicles in the Baltic states, Poland and other countries," Fomin told reporters. According to him, some countries are increasing their forces, including NATO countries that are heavily indebted to Russia.

"To protect Poland, we sacrificed more than 600,000 people, but now Poland is the main guardian of all this: ready to open bases on its territory," said Mr. Fomin.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that NATO continues to steadily move eastward and is increasing its military presence from the Black Sea to the Baltic Sea. According to her, since October this year, the Baltic and Northern European countries have been concentrating a lot of forces and means, participating in a series of large-scale exercises of the alliance, adding to the units already deployed in the eastern countries of NATO.
