Nghe An: 14 relics were granted funding for restoration and embellishment in 2019
(Baonghean.vn) - The Provincial People's Committee has just issued a document deciding on the list of relic items that will receive urgent investment in restoration and embellishment in 2019. These are all degraded relics, many of which are seriously damaged and are mainly concentrated in Nam Dan, Do Luong, Thanh Chuong, and Nghi Loc districts.
These are the relics: Giap Dong communal house (Nam Kim commune), King Mai's tomb (Van Dien commune), Nam Dan district. In Do Luong district, there are the relics: Phuc Hau communal house (Lam Son commune), Nguyen Ngoc Sy's tomb and Dong Son temple (Trung Son commune). In Nghi Loc district, there are 2 relics: Dong Hai temple (Phuc Tho commune), Trung Kien communal house (Nghi Thiet commune).

In Yen Thanh district, one of the localities with the most relics in the province, there are also many relics that need urgent restoration. However, on this occasion, only the church relic and the tomb of the ancestors of the Vo family (Tho Thanh commune) are on the restoration list. Dien Chau district has 2 relics: Xuan Ai communal house (Dien An commune) and Chay communal house (Dien Yen commune).
The most restored relics are concentrated in Thanh Chuong district with 5 relics, namely Ba Chua Che temple (Hanh Lam commune), Dao Ngan communal house (Cat Van commune), Lang Thuong communal house (Hanh Lam commune), Dau temple (Thanh Ha commune), and Nguyen Nhu family temple (Thanh Van commune).
Also according to the plan approved by the Provincial People's Committee, this year the Provincial People's Committee's budget for urgent renovation and restoration is about 2.7 billion VND, not higher than in 2018.
However, according to the results of previous years, this funding source is not enough to meet the actual restoration needs. Currently, Nghe An province has more than 2,600 relics and scenic spots, of which nearly 1,200 are cultural and historical relics and nearly 400 have been ranked. Although the number of relics is quite large, the annual provincial budget for the restoration and embellishment of relics is very limited. For example, in 2018, the Department of Culture and Sports submitted to the province a budget for urgent restoration of 13 severely degraded relics, but the budget only covered 9 relics.
Reality also shows that, due to lack of funding, over the years, restoration and embellishment solutions have been limited, tending towards construction, improperly and unscientifically. Many relics do not have landscape design, honoring traditional values...
