(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of December 27, the Office of the Traffic Safety Committee of Nghe An province coordinated with the People's Committee of Nghi Loc district, the district police, and communes in the area to organize a campaign to clear traffic safety corridors before the Lunar New Year 2020.

Nghi Loc is one of the key areas for traffic safety corridor violations because it is located close to National Highway 1A, in the area there are towns, markets, hospitals... with many shops and people passing by. On the day of the campaign, Nghi Loc District People's Committee propagated to each shop and store, confiscating hundreds of advertising signs of shops and objects encroaching on traffic safety corridors.

The situation of sidewalk encroachment in Nghi Loc is common. When seeing the authorities, the encroaching households hastily cleared away the billboards. In the town areas, along the district hospital, the Nam Cam area... the authorities have organized to clear them away. Photo: Quang An

Before Lunar New Year, to ensure traffic order and safety, the Provincial People's Committee issued Plan No. 755/KH - Provincial People's Committee on launching a peak campaign to clear traffic safety corridors in the whole province.

The Provincial People's Committee requested localities to direct forces to carry out a peak campaign to clear traffic safety corridors and sidewalks so that people can celebrate Tet safely and healthily. Localities must take part with a determined spirit, mobilizing maximum human and material resources so that the campaign will be highly effective, restoring order in traffic safety corridors, ensuring the maintenance of clear roads and sidewalks associated with urban beautification.

The Provincial People's Committee requires heads of units and Chairmen of People's Committees of districts, cities and towns to directly direct and organize the drastic and synchronous implementation of solutions, assign tasks to specific and clear forces, and pay attention to preventing reoccupation after clearance.

All illegal acts of obstruction during the clearance process are strictly prohibited. Localities focus on propaganda in many forms such as mobile information vehicles, grassroots loudspeakers, neighborhood meetings along both sides of the roads; organize commitment signing for agencies, organizations, and individuals. Regarding clearance work, it is absolutely not allowed to use sidewalks, roadsides, and curbs for business and trading, especially Tet goods, flower pots, ornamental plants; car washing, gathering of construction materials, garbage, etc.

At the same time, resolutely dismantle all tents, shops, tables, chairs, mobile canopies, and fixed canopies encroaching on traffic safety corridors.

For key and complicated areas, the District People's Committee needs to proactively advise and report to the Provincial People's Committee leaders to direct the mobilization of forces from departments and branches to coordinate the clearance.

The Provincial People's Committee also requested the Vinh City People's Committee to direct construction units to urgently complete the upgrading and repairing projects of streets to ensure progress according to regulations. After completing the clearance, localities must conduct environmental sanitation and urban beautification. Arrange and organize parking spots at suitable locations and have strict management. Particularly, trucks and passenger cars during the Tet holiday are absolutely not allowed to park within the sidewalks and roadside.

Arrange separate business areas, flower pot and ornamental plant trading, and reasonable Tet service areas. Absolutely do not arrange them within the sidewalks, roadside of national highways, provincial roads, and inner-city routes through densely populated areas to avoid causing traffic jams and affecting the ventilation of the sidewalks.

The Provincial Traffic Safety Committee will regularly inspect localities and report to the Provincial People's Committee to consider the responsibilities of individuals and groups, lack of attention, lack of urging, lack of determination in implementing tasks, and violations in work.

Mr. Vo Minh Duc - Chief of Office of Provincial Traffic Safety Committee

Currently, the encroachment of traffic safety corridors is still common, some cleared roads have been re-encroached, many localities and units have not really taken drastic action, the coordination between relevant sectors and units with local authorities is still ineffective. In fact, at the end of the year, people's shopping and travel needs increase, the encroachment of sidewalks and roadsides is common.

The peak campaign to clear traffic safety corridors will last until the end of the Lunar New Year.
