Nghe An: 155 traffic accidents occurred in the first 9 months of the year
(Baonghean.vn) - In Nghe An, in the first 9 months, there were 155 traffic accidents, killing 105 people and injuring 100 people. Compared to the same period in 2018, there were 15 fewer accidents (8.82%), 16 fewer deaths (13.2%), and 23 fewer injuries (18.6%). This information was provided at the National Online Conference to review the work of ensuring traffic order and safety.
On the afternoon of October 16, the Government held a national online conference to review the work of ensuring traffic order and safety (TTATGT) in the third quarter and deploy directions and tasks for the fourth quarter of 2019. The conference was chaired by Politburo member, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee Truong Hoa Binh.

In the first 9 months of the year, there were 12,675 traffic accidents nationwide.
According to the assessment at the conference, in the first 9 months of 2019, the traffic safety situation nationwide continued to have positive changes, traffic accidents continued to decrease in all 3 criteria.
From December 15, 2018 to September 14, 2019, there were 12,675 traffic accidents nationwide, killing 5,659 people and injuring 9,619 people. Compared to the same period in 2018, traffic accidents decreased by 567 cases (4.28%), 353 deaths (5.8%), and 700 injuries (6.78%). Nationwide, 45 provinces and centrally-run cities had a decrease in the number of deaths due to traffic accidents compared to the same period in 2018, of which 22 localities had a decrease of over 10%.
In Nghe An province alone, there were 155 traffic accidents in the first 9 months, killing 105 people and injuring 100. Compared to the same period in 2018, there were 15 fewer accidents (8.82%), 16 fewer deaths (13.2%), and 23 fewer injuries (18.6%).
Also during the past time, local traffic police forces across the country have recorded and handled more than 3 million cases of traffic safety violations, fined nearly 2 trillion VND; revoked nearly 250,000 driving licenses, and detained more than 437,000 vehicles of all kinds.
The Transport Inspectorate has conducted nearly 55,000 specialized inspections, sanctioned over 45,000 administrative violations, paid VND527 billion to the budget; suspended the operation of 194 wharves and 250 inland waterway vehicles; supervised 654 car driving tests and 391 motorbike driving tests.

Reduce traffic accidents on all 3 criteria
At the conference, ministries, branches, provinces and cities reported on the work of ensuring traffic order and safety of units and localities, as well as proposed solutions for ensuring traffic order and safety in the coming time.
Concluding the conference, comrade Truong Hoa Binh - Politburo member, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee highly appreciated the efforts and responsibilities of ministries, branches and localities at all levels in coordinating to ensure traffic safety in the first 9 months of the year.

In the coming time, especially in the fourth quarter of 2019, the Deputy Prime Minister requested ministries, branches and localities to continue promoting propaganda, dissemination and education of traffic safety laws; directing the drastic and synchronous implementation of solutions to ensure traffic safety and prevent traffic congestion; continuing to reduce traffic accidents on all three criteria.
Accordingly, the authorities will increase patrols and handle violations of traffic safety, focusing on handling violations of commercial transport vehicles; violations of alcohol and drug concentrations, speeding while driving, violations of helmet use, etc.
The Transport sector strengthens inspection and tightens discipline in training and testing, granting driving licenses, managing technical safety and environmental protection for road motor vehicles and inland waterway vehicles; ensures the quality and progress of traffic construction projects; implements maintenance, repair, and ensures the safety of traffic infrastructure; prioritizes the use of the Road Maintenance Fund to handle black spots of traffic accidents; develops a Plan to implement the Prime Minister's Directive on ensuring traffic safety during the peak season of New Year, Lunar New Year, and Spring Festival 2020; develops a plan for the Traffic Safety Year 2020 with the theme "If you drink alcohol, beer - do not drive".
