Nghe An: Arrested 2 subjects carrying 20 heroin cakes, 5 kg of crystal meth from Laos to Vietnam

The Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of Nghe An Province Police has just successfully dismantled a drug trafficking ring from Laos to the South for consumption, seizing 20 heroin cakes and 5kg of crystal meth.

Through the work of grasping the situation, Department PC47 of Nghe An Provincial Police discovered a drug trafficking ring from Laos to Ho Chi Minh City for consumption. Under the direction of the leaders of Nghe An Provincial Police, Project 218S was established to fight and destroy it.

After nearly a month of verifying and consolidating documents, realizing the opportunity was ripe, on January 30, 2018, the Task Force deployed forces and decided to crack the case. The Task Force coordinated with the Traffic Police Patrol Team 1-7 and related units, divided into many groups spread out along Highway 7, including 3 main locations: Con Cuong district, Luu Kien intersection, Tuong Duong district and the Vietnam - Laos border.

"The subjects often change their methods and tricks, changing vehicles and clothes after a certain distance to avoid the authorities. However, with a firm grasp of the subjects' patterns of operation, the Task Force always has many proactive plans to fight them," said Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thai Hoa, Team Leader of Team 2, PC47 Department.

At 6:00 p.m. the same day, at Luu Kien intersection, Tuong Duong district, the Task Force caught two subjects red-handed in the act of illegally transporting drugs. When they discovered they were being surrounded and arrested, the subjects used knives to fight back fiercely, but with bravery and intelligence, the officers and soldiers controlled and arrested the subjects.

The seized evidence included 20 heroin cakes, 5 kg of crystal meth, 1 motorbike, and 1 utility knife. At the investigation agency, the suspects confessed to being Nguyen Van Dong (born in 1979), residing in Nghia My commune, Thai Hoa town, and Nguyen Huu Trinh (born in 1986), residing in Nghia Hanh commune, Tan Ky district.

The case is currently being investigated by the authorities./.
