On the afternoon of January 6, the People's Committee of Nghe An province held a conference to review national defense and security work in 2019 and deploy tasks for 2020.

Attending the conference were Major General Nguyen Sy Hoi - Deputy Commander of Military Region 4; Colonel Pham Xuan Dieu - Deputy Chief of Staff of the Vietnam Border Guard Command... On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrades: Thai Thanh Quy - Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Van Thong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; comrades in the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee; representatives of leaders of departments, branches, districts, cities and towns.

The most stable in the past 10 years

In 2019, Nghe An has seriously implemented the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws and policies on national defense and security tasks. The maintenance of national defense and security has created a stable environment for Nghe An to build and develop. Thanks to that, all targets and tasks of the province's 2019 plan have been well implemented: The economy has grown quite well; infrastructure has been invested and upgraded synchronously; many key projects have been implemented with high efficiency; cultural and social institutions have been ensured... The national defense and security situation is assessed to be the most stable and secure in the past 10 years.

The province's national defense and security work also has certain limitations, namely: The construction of a strong and comprehensive base, the mastery of safety clusters and the operation of the Steering Committee for Base Construction in some localities are not very effective. The coordination and exchange of information between forces is sometimes not regular; handling some complicated situations at the base is sometimes confusing.

Departments, branches, sectors, localities, especially the armed forces, must proactively grasp, accurately and promptly forecast the situation and situations related to national defense and security; proactively take effective preventive, combative and deterrent measures; regularly do a good job of mobilizing the masses and promoting the movement of all people to protect national security; promote the combined strength of building all-people national defense associated with the people's security posture and all-people border defense; strengthen preventive measures and effectively combat all types of crimes, especially the fight to prevent drug smuggling across the border.
