Thach Giam is the first commune to reach the NTM target of the province's three poor districts, according to Resolution 30a of the Government. In order to have a stable source of income for the people, in recent years, Thach Giam has received technical support and guidance from the Provincial Party Committee's Inspection Committee and Vinh University. She has also implemented a safe vegetable growing model; with an area of over 4.7 hectares in Phong and Nhan villages.
Although there are still difficulties in irrigation water, but through assessment, it shows that 1 hectare of safe vegetables, people here earn over 15 million VND/crop. Especially in Nhan village, all year round people produce vegetables, tubers and fruits to supply the market.
In addition, mountainous areas also receive investment from state programs and projects, implementing many production models, exploiting potential, bringing economic efficiency to people such as: growing red bananas, safe vegetables in Que Phong, Tuong Duong, Con Cuong...; raising cows in Tan Ky, Nghia Dan, Thanh Chuong...

In the period 2011 - 2015, Nghe An has implemented 4,529 production development models and 455 production development models under the National Target Program on New Rural Development. The models have contributed to increasing people's income. Up to now, the average income per capita of Nghe An is more than 19.6 million VND/person/year, the poverty rate of the whole province has decreased to only 7.5%.
