Lach Quen fishing port (Quynh Luu) is still bustling with activity during the days before Tet. Since yesterday, fishing boats have been returning to shore to sell seafood, this is also the last trip of the year for fishermen.

Among the fishing boats that arrived at the port this morning, the fishing boat captained by fisherman To Thi in Quynh Nghia commune was excited, his boat caught a catch of needlefish that earned hundreds of millions of dong.

Fisherman To Thi said that the boat set sail on December 19, after 8 days of fishing, he caught more than 5 tons of hairtail fish for export; selling at 80,000 VND/kg, Mr. Thi earned over 400 million VND, which means each person got 7 million to bring home for Tet.

Not only To Thi's fishing boat, many other 4-pole fishing boats returned to shore in the joy of a good season of needlefish. When the boats returned to port, they did not rush to sell the seafood immediately, but mostly loaded the ice onto the boat, stored it in the hold and waited until after Tet to sell it.

Fisherman Ho Huu Hoan, owner of fishing boat NA 915.72 TS in Quynh Nghia commune, said that this was the most successful trip of the year so far. After 1 week of fishing, the boat caught about 3 tons of hairtail fish, which if sold immediately to traders at 80,000 VND/kg would bring in more than 250 million VND. However, Mr. Hoan is not in a hurry to sell but is storing it in a cold storage to sell after Tet at a higher price.

It is known that in just 2 days 26 and 27 of December, Lach Quen fishing port welcomed about 10 ships back to shore, most of which had a good harvest of needlefish; on average each ship earned from 200 - 500 million VND. Never before have Quynh Luu fishermen been more excited than now because the last trip of the year brought them a "sea fortune", bringing them a good income, motivation for people to celebrate Tet and enjoy spring more warmly and fully./.
