(Baonghean.vn) - Mr. Truong Van Hoa (Hamlet 2 - Hoi Son - Anh Son) has successfully implemented the first model of growing melons in a greenhouse in Anh Son district. After a period of manually pollinating melons, Mr. Hoa invented a way to train bee colonies to pollinate in a greenhouse.

The model of growing melons using Israeli technology learned from Saigon, implemented since June 2016, area 1,800 m2and prepare for harvest. |
Melon plants are hung up with ropes for easy fruit picking and branch cutting. |
Modern irrigation system using Israeli technology. |
Each melon tree is watered with a drip irrigation hose, 2-3 times a day. |
Every day, all roots are carefully monitored for EC and PH concentrations. |
It is known that in the past, pollinating melons manually was very difficult. Then the model owner had the idea of raising 2 honeybee hives to train them to pollinate. To get the bees to fly into the greenhouse, the greenhouse must be airy and cool. In the beginning, only a few worker bees were 'allowed' to enter the garden to 'spy' in order to stimulate the whole colony. Later, the bees began to get used to sucking nectar from melon flowers and pollinating the whole garden. |
When the melons enter the pollination stage, all the doors are opened to let the bees fly into the garden to do their "duty". |
The pruning and fruit selection are also carefully selected. Each tree only leaves 1-2 fruits on the 9th-12th layer. |
The green melons promise a bountiful harvest. |
Each melon season is harvested within 68-72 days. This is the first time this model has been implemented in Nghe An, and is expected to produce 80% grade 1 fruit. |
