According to a quick report from Do Luong District General Hospital, pregnant woman Tran Thi H. (40 years old, residing in Da Son commune), was admitted to the hospital at 0:05 on October 20. This is her fourth pregnancy, and all previous pregnancies were normal. This time, she is 40 weeks pregnant, and is expected to give birth on October 23.

According to the family's account to the doctors, her husband worked far away, and Ms. H. stayed with her three young children. At around 11 p.m. on October 19, Ms. H. suddenly felt abdominal pain, vaginal discharge, then fell, fainted, and could not see anything, so her family took her to the hospital.

Upon admission, doctors noted that the patient was confused, panicked, agitated, had difficulty breathing, and had purple spots all over his body; pulse was fast and weak, difficult to detect; blood pressure: 0/0; heart rate was fast at about 120 beats/minute; lungs had many moist rales; abdomen was constantly stiff, moderately distended; fetal heart rate was 50 - 60 beats/minute; amniotic sac was completely ruptured...

Doctors diagnosed shock, circulatory collapse/uteroplacental hemorrhage/monitoring amniotic fluid embolism/40-week pregnancy, fourth labor/premature rupture of membranes. “The prognosis was very serious, with a risk of death for both mother and baby, so the doctors actively resuscitated the patient and advised the family about the condition. After discussing with the family, determining that there was still life, we consulted with the leadership, anesthetized and approved the emergency surgery. Reserved blood of the same type for transfusion when necessary,” said Mr. Le Duc Hai - Director of Do Luong District General Hospital.

Also according to the report of Do Luong District General Hospital, at 00:20, the mother was intubated and ventilated and underwent emergency surgery to deliver a baby boy, who was asphyxiated, had his umbilical cord cut and was resuscitated, had a total uterine infarction, and had a mesenteric infarction. During the surgery, the patient had a cardiac arrest, and the emergency doctor performed CPR, and after 2 minutes, the heart returned.

Meanwhile, the doctors resuscitated the newborn baby boy for 30 minutes but it was ineffective so they decided to stop the emergency treatment. As for the mother, after the surgery, she still had to be put on a ventilator and was in critical condition. Although she was transferred to a higher level for further emergency treatment, she did not survive./.
