(Baonghean.vn) - This rare case occurred on the morning of May 7 at an elementary school in Quy Hop district. Currently, the patient is still being treated and monitored at Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital.

The patient is Vy Ngoc Manh, a 2C student at Chau Dinh Primary School - Quy Hop District. At the Department of Intensive Care - Anti-Poison - Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, Manh said:On the morning of May 7, at around 9 o'clock (recess time), I went to the school flower bed to play and was suddenly bitten on the hand by a green snake.

After being bitten by a snake, Manh had symptoms of rapid heartbeat and pale skin. At that time, Manh's parents were being examined at Nghe An Oncology Hospital, so his family took Manh to the Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital for emergency treatment.

Currently, Manh is conscious, but according to Dr. Nguyen Hung Manh - Head of the Department of Intensive Care and Anti-Poison, Manh is being closely monitored because he is not out of danger yet.

According to Dr. Hung, each year the Emergency Department of the Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital receives 10-15 patients bitten by snakes because they stepped on snakes or intentionally caught snakes.

After a snake bite, there are three main groups of symptoms that can occur: respiratory failure (the victim is at risk of cardiovascular disorders, respiratory failure, unconsciousness and death), blood clotting disorders (blood spontaneously flowing causing internal bleeding, stomach bleeding) and the last group is necrosis at the site of the snake bite.

Snake bite cases are difficult to identify if the exact type of snake bite is not known. Photo: My Ha

The biggest difficulty now is that we do not know the type of snake bite, so it is difficult to distinguish the disease group for treatment.Currently, Manh's hand is swollen so we are closely monitoring it. Because for patients bitten by snakes, it is difficult to initially distinguish whether they were bitten by a venomous snake or a harmless snake. Symptoms of poisoning may not appear immediately after the bite but can progress very quickly, endangering life./.
