Nghe An launches Olympic Running Day for public health

(Baonghean.vn) - On March 19, at Ho Chi Minh Square (Vinh city), the Launching Ceremony of the Olympic Running Day for the Health of the People and the Opening Ceremony of the Nghe An Provincial Cross-Country Race 2023 took place.

Attending the ceremony were comrades: Hoang Nghia Hieu - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Nam Dinh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; comrades of the Provincial Party Executive Committee: Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Vo Van Dung - Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department; Tran Thi My Hanh - Director of the Department of Culture and Sports; representatives of leaders of departments, branches, socio-political organizations and 21 districts, cities and towns in the province.

The 2023 Olympic Running Day for the Health of the People of Nghe An Province is organized to continue promoting and improving the quality of the campaign "The whole people practice sports following the example of great Uncle Ho"; to propagate and raise awareness of the role, significance and effects of physical exercise and sports in protecting and improving health and quality of life; at the same time, to launch a walking movement for students, to strengthen physical education in schools, to create a habit of regular physical exercise and sports to improve physical fitness for everyone in general and students in schools in particular.

At the launching ceremony of the Olympic Running Day for the health of all people, comrade Tran Thi My Hanh - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports, presented the theoretical and practical values of Ho Chi Minh's thoughts on physical education and health in his "Call for all people to exercise"; at the same time, called on all cadres, people and students to choose a suitable sport to participate in to improve their health.

This year's Olympic Run for Public Health Day gathered nearly 7,500 officials, people and students to participate in the Olympic Run, Walking Festival and 200 athletes to participate in the Cross Country Race.

After the launching ceremony, delegates, officials, people and students ran and walked along Truong Thi Street for 1.5 km. Then, athletes participated in the cross-country race on Lenin Street with distances of 2,500m, 3,000m and 5,000m.
