Nghe An launches 'Food Safety Action Month' in 2022

(Baonghean.vn) - The 2022 Food Safety Action Month has the theme "Continuing to enhance the role and responsibility of producers, traders and consumers of agricultural and food products in the new situation". Implementation period is from April 15, 2022 to May 15, 2022. The scope of implementation is throughout the province.

On the morning of April 15, in Cua Lo town, the Interdisciplinary Steering Committee for Food Safety of Nghe An province organized the launching ceremony of the "Month of Action for Food Safety" in 2022. Attending the ceremony were representatives of leaders of departments, branches, localities, medical units in the province, and a large number of people from all walks of life in Cua Lo town.

Activities implemented in the “Month of Action for Food Safety” include: Organizing the launching ceremony and workshops to disseminate the “Month of Action for Food Safety”; communication campaigns to ensure food safety in many forms; inter-sectoral inspection, examination, and post-inspection from the provincial to communal levels for organizations and individuals producing, trading, and advertising food; monitoring food safety at food production, processing, and trading establishments, catering services, and monitoring contamination risks for widely used items.

Launching the "Month of Action for Food Safety" in 2022, Associate Professor, Dr. Duong Dinh Chinh - Director of Nghe An Department of Health, Standing member of the Provincial Interdisciplinary Steering Committee on Food Safety stated: Food safety work inNghe Anis still facing many challenges.

These are the problems of uncontrolled residues of pesticides, veterinary drugs, and preservatives in agricultural and food products; food processing still has many limitations; there are still fake and poor quality foods circulating on the market; and the awareness of compliance with food safety and hygiene laws of some organizations, food production and trading establishments, and consumers is still low.

Faced with this situation, all levels, sectors and localities need to strengthen the Party's leadership and invest government resources in food safety; continue to promote propaganda, mobilization and education of all classes of people and businesses on food safety; strengthen inspection, examination and supervision of food safety at food production, preliminary processing, processing, import, circulation and trading establishments, especially e-commerce transactions, food multi-level marketing companies and strictly handle violations.

Food safety steering committees at all levels need to continue to direct the consolidation and improvement of the organization and staff in charge of food safety management, especially at the commune level at present./.
