Nghe An issues telegram to respond to storm No. 6
(Baonghean.vn) - According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, storm No. 6 is likely to strengthen to level 12, level 15. Natural disaster risk level 3 in the eastern part of the North East Sea.
On the evening of October 16, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Nghe An province issued dispatch 11/CD-BCH, proactively responding to the developments of storm No. 6.
Forecast in the next 24 hours, the storm will move in the West Southwest direction, traveling 15 km per hour and is likely to strengthen to level 12, gusting to level 15. Natural disaster risk level 3 in the East of the North East Sea area.
To proactively respond to storm No. 6, the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense requests the Steering Committees for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue of districts, cities and towns; the Provincial Military Command; the Provincial Border Guard Command; the Provincial Police; provincial departments, branches and relevant agencies to direct the implementation of the following contents:

1. Strictly implement Official Dispatch No. 34/CD-QG dated October 16, 2022 of the National Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control - National Committee for Incident, Disaster Response and Search and Rescue.
2. For sea routes:
- Closely monitor the storm's developments, notify owners of vehicles, captains of ships and boats (including transport ships and tourist ships) operating at sea of the location, direction of movement and developments of the storm to proactively avoid, escape or not move into dangerous areas. The dangerous area in the East Sea in the next 24 hours (strong winds of level 6 or higher) is determined from latitude 17.0 to 21.5 degrees North; east of longitude 113.5 degrees East (dangerous area is adjusted in forecast bulletins).
- Organize monitoring and counting of ships and boats operating in the storm-affected area; strictly manage vessels going out to sea; maintain regular communication with vessel owners to promptly handle possible bad situations; prepare measures to ensure safety of people and property on cages and watchtowers for aquaculture.
3. For land:
- Check, review, and prepare plans to ensure the safety of the dike and dam systems, especially those under construction or damaged or degraded. Proactively develop plans to operate hydroelectric and irrigation reservoirs, especially critical dams and full dams, to ensure the safety of the works and downstream areas. Arrange forces, materials, and means to promptly deploy rescue, disaster relief, and overcome incidents of dikes, dams, landslides, etc.
- Deploy shock forces to inspect and review unsafe houses, residential areas along rivers, streams, outside river banks, areas at risk of flooding, landslides, flash floods; prepare plans to evacuate people in areas at high risk of deep flooding, flash floods, landslides to safe places.
4. The North Central Region Hydrometeorological Station closely monitors, forecasts, warns, and promptly informs about storm developments to proactively deploy response measures.
5. The Provincial Military Command, the Provincial Border Guard Command, and the Provincial Police are ready with rescue forces and vehicles to promptly respond when requested.
6. Departments, branches, sectors and localities, according to their assigned functions and tasks, must prepare plans, forces and means for rescue when bad situations occur and quickly overcome the consequences of natural disasters.
7. Provincial Radio and Television Station, Nghe An Newspaper and mass media agencies increase information and communication about the developments of storm No. 6 and the direction of response and overcoming consequences.
8. Organize on-duty shifts seriously and regularly report to the Provincial Command Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense.
