Nghe An: Kindergarten used as quarantine area, children study at cultural house

During this time, the number of citizens of Tuong Duong district from southern provinces and cities returning to their localities to avoid the epidemic increased dramatically, while thecentralized quarantine areaoverloaded. Following the province's direction, Tuong Duong district has requisitioned kindergartens to serve as centralized quarantine areas to prevent and control the Covid-19 epidemic. Among them, Xa Luong Kindergarten.

Xa Luong Kindergarten has 1 main campus and 5 satellite campuses. The school has 298 children, but 107 children study at the main campus. The newly rebuilt main campus has a large area, so it was chosen as the quarantine site.

To ensure the children's learning, Xa Luong Kindergarten borrowed the cultural houses of Cua Rao 1 and Cua Rao 2 villages for the children at the main school to study. The children were divided into 4 classes with 107 children. This method was agreed and supported by most of the parents.

Ms. Le Thi Nhu Y, in Cua Rao 2 village, parent of Tran Tu Anh, said: Due to the epidemic, the children were able to return to school at the beginning of October. However, after less than a week of going to school, there was a plan to use the school as a centralized quarantine area for citizens returning to their hometown to avoid the epidemic. Honestly, not only me but also the parents are very worried. The worry is because at home the children have no place to play, they sit in front of the TV all day, with no one to look after them. My business is quite busy, fortunately the school flexibly borrowed the village's cultural house to use as a classroom for the children. I think this is very necessary, both ensuring that the children can study and the parents have time to develop the economy.

Ms. Lo Thi Khay Thi, in Xieng Huong village, whose 3-year-old child is studying at the Cua Rao 1 Village Cultural House, shared: Studying at the cultural house is somewhat difficult for both teachers and students, but it is still better than the children having to stay home from school. Children can both play and study in a safe environment when they go to school. Parents have time to work and produce. At such a young age, it is not safe for children to play at home alone. I think borrowing the cultural house to use as a classroom at this time is extremely reasonable.

The daily work of preschool teachers is already very hard, teaching at the cultural houses of the villages is even harder. Ms. Tran Thi Sao Mai - a teacher at Xa Luong Kindergarten said: "At school, the campus and classrooms are built in a closed space, which is very convenient for teaching, learning as well as the activities of teachers and students. Studying at the cultural house is very difficult, especially the toilets. Although it is so hard, but with the enthusiastic support of parents, especially being able to go to class every day to teach the children, everyone is happy, encouraging each other to overcome difficulties to complete teaching and learning."

Ms. Le Hong Quang - Vice Principal of Xa Luong Kindergarten said: "If the children at the main point have to stay at home for a long time, it will affect not only their daily routine but also their awareness. Therefore, the school has decided to borrow the cultural house to use as a classroom. This policy has received high support from teachers and parents. Currently, the facilities at the cultural house are not guaranteed, so the children cannot stay in the dormitory. In the coming time, the school will make efforts to overcome this, if the conditions for boarding are met, it will organize boarding for the children"./.
