The above vessels fished in the wrong waters (vessels licensed for offshore fishing but fished close to shore); the vessel owners used prohibited fishing equipment and tools (octagonal nets, electric shock); the vessels fished but were not licensed, and had not painted cabin markings according to regulations; the vessels had been transferred for a long time but had not completed the procedures for name change and registration according to regulations.

Before towing and bringing the vehicle to the Border Guard's shore station to carry out administrative penalty procedures, the interdisciplinary working group informed the owners of the violating vessels about the nature, level of violation and the penalty level according to Decree 42/CP of the Government.

Captain Le Anh Cuong - Deputy Head of Quynh Phuong Border Guard Station, a member of the inspection team, said: Recently, the situation of illegal fishing in the coastal waters bordering Tinh Gia, Thanh Hoa and Hoang Mai, Nghe An is quite complicated. Members of the interdisciplinary team observed and combined with reports to detect fishing vessels violating fishing licenses in the coastal waters bordering the border. Quynh Phuong Border Guard Station has repeatedly launched propaganda, reminded and punished a number of cases, but people's awareness is quite indifferent and they have not seriously complied.

In the coastal waters bordering Thanh Hoa and Nghe An (5 km overlapping buffer zone), there are many fishing boats of Thanh Hoa fishermen without license plates fishing with trawlers. When reminded by Nghe An Fisheries Control Force, they dispersed and moved towards Thanh Hoa. Photo: Nguyen Hai
Previously, based on inspection and monitoring of coastal waters in front of Nghi Son port (Tinh Gia, Thanh Hoa) and Dong Hoi port (Hoang Mai town), the delegation propagated and reminded many fishing vessels (mainly of fishermen in Tinh Gia, Thanh Hoa) to comply with regulations on cabin painting to identify fishing vessel signs and register for fishing licenses according to regulations.

In order to prevent illegal fishing activities, Nghe An province established an interdisciplinary team to inspect compliance with legal regulations on fishing activities and fishing logistics services in coastal waters and offshore waters of Nghe An province.

The delegation was led by Comrade Nguyen Chi Luong - Head of the Department of Fisheries. The delegation included representatives from relevant departments, branches, border guards and districts.

According to the plan, the delegation will operate from May to October 2020, accordingly, it will inspect fishing vessels operating in the field of aquatic exploitation and fishing logistics services at sea..
