Accordingly, the household with pigs infected with swine fever is Mrs. Hoang Thi Lien's family in Trung Hau hamlet, Dien Van commune. Mrs. Lien said that on April 30, her family's herd of 3 pigs fell ill and stopped eating, and she immediately reported it to the hamlet authorities. On the afternoon of May 1, the veterinary agency came to take samples for testing, and at the same time destroyed all 3 pigs weighing 239 kg.

This morning, local authorities informed the family that the family's sick pig sample tested positive for African swine fever.

Also this morning, the provincial and district veterinary agencies and local authorities came to spray chemicals from the street into the barn area, and sprinkled lime powder in front of the house gate, preventing outsiders from entering the barn area.

Mr. Dang Van Cong - Chairman of Dien Van Commune People's Committee said that immediately after the positive result for African swine fever, the commune held a meeting on epidemic prevention and control, and at the same time set up 4 quarantine checkpoints at 4 roads leading to Trung Hau hamlet, assigned specific tasks to each member, bought lime powder to sprinkle at the epidemic area and quarantine checkpoints; and broadcast announcements on loudspeakers to all people in the commune.

From May 2, the commune banned pig slaughtering in the commune and directed hamlets, especially pig farms in the commune, to strictly implement regulations on preventing African swine fever.

Mr. Le The Hieu - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dien Chau district said that in the immediate future, the district will direct the authorities of Dien Van commune to effectively implement epidemic prevention solutions according to regulations of the veterinary agency.

On the afternoon of May 2, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the District Veterinary Station will advise the District People's Committee to announce African swine fever in Dien Van commune. Currently, the Dien Chau District Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Station has provided Dien Van commune with 24 liters of disinfectant chemicals, 1 engine sprayer, 100 pairs of gloves, 50 masks, and 10 sets of protective clothing.

Directly directing the work of preventing African swine fever in Dien Van commune, Mr. Dang Van Minh - Deputy Head of the Provincial Department of Animal Health and Livestock said: African swine fever has been complicated and unpredictable in recent times, with no signs of slowing down. Therefore, he requested local authorities to consider "fighting the epidemic like fighting the enemy" and not to be negligent or subjective.

The characteristics of Dien Van commune are narrow land, crowded population, and high traffic volume on the roads, so there is a high risk of swine fever spreading to humans. Therefore, local authorities have stepped up propaganda work to help all people understand and limit as much as possible outsiders entering the epidemic area.
