Nghi Loc: Effectiveness from the Resolution on developing craft villages

(Baonghean.vn) - Implementing Resolution No. 06/NQ.TU, Nghi Loc District People's Committee has issued a Project on industrial and handicraft development and craft village construction. This direction has contributed to shifting the local economic structure, creating jobs, and increasing income for people.

Trung Kien shipbuilding village (Nghi Thiet commune) has been established and developed for over 700 years. After a difficult period due to the change of mechanism, with the attention and support of all levels, the craft village was restored and developed strongly. Trung Kien shipbuilding and carpentry cooperative was established in 2004 from a number of workshops. Up to now, there are 23 workshops with nearly 46 members. Each year, the workshop produces 76 boats of all kinds.

Comrade Le Dang Nguyen - Standing Secretary of Nghi Thiet Commune Party Committee said: "Thanks to the development of the handicraft village, the commune's economy has had a positive structural shift, with the economic growth rate in 2015 reaching 13%/year. To promote the development of the handicraft village in the coming time, the commune has completed the "Project for Developing Craft Villages to 2020", which will focus on removing obstacles in planning and infrastructure for more sustainable development".

Meanwhile, in Nghi Hoa commune, the craft village of “producing and processing agricultural products and food” in Trung Thanh and Hau Hoa hamlets has developed quite strongly. Here, the commune Party Committee issued Resolution 13 in 2013 to develop the craft village.

On that basis, the Commune People's Committee has directed production establishments to pay more attention to food safety and hygiene. In particular, each household contributes 2,000 VND per month to handle wastewater, avoiding environmental pollution in the area. At the same time, some production establishments have registered trademarks for their products to compete in the market.

Mr. Dang Van Tam - Secretary of Nghi Hoa Commune Party Committee said: "To develop small-scale handicraft villages, the Commune Party Committee has a specialized resolution, the Commune People's Committee issued a project to lead the people to implement. From persistent implementation, with the dynamism of the people, in 2014, Hau Hoa and Trung Thanh hamlets were awarded the title of Craft Village".

With the support of the province, along with mobilizing the people, Nghi Loc has invested over 31.5 billion VND to build 15.89 km of asphalt roads in 13 craft villages; 2.5 billion VND to upgrade power stations and concrete roads to serve craft village production in Nghi Truong and Nghi Thiet; proactively allocated over 500 million VND to support 10 craft villages to build product display houses and cultural houses; supported 5 billion VND to build infrastructure in craft villages in Nghi Thai and Phuc Tho communes...

In addition, the district also invited experts to provide vocational training; plan and upgrade infrastructure for shipbuilding, support brand building and find outlets for products, etc.

Thanks to that, up to now, the whole district has 22 craft villages recognized by the Provincial People's Committee. The income from craft villages in the area reached 76.308 billion VND, accounting for 64.37% of the total income of craft villages. The average income of workers from craft in the whole district in 2015 was estimated at 29.43 million VND/year.
