(Baonghean.vn) - In order to support the forces on duty at Covid-19 quarantine checkpoints, many localities in Thanh Chuong district are spreading the activity of making palm thatch to cover quarantine checkpoints to prevent the heat.

Before the complicated developments ofCovid-19 epidemic, localities bordering Thanh Chuong district such as Huong Son (Ha Tinh), Nam Dan, Do Luong have all recorded cases of the disease. Currently, Thanh Chuong district has set up more than 10 quarantine checkpoints on major routes to prevent the epidemic. Most of the checkpoints have built tents, in hot weather conditions, greatly affecting the health of the forces on duty here. In order to support the quarantine checkpoints, in recent days, many communes in the district have organized the making of palm thatch to cover the checkpoints to prevent heat. In the past, making thatched roofs was a familiar job for Thanh Chuong people because every house had a thatched house. Nowadays, thatched houses are rare in the district, but the "ash thatch making profession" is not forgotten by many people. On this occasion, many people "practice their skills" by making 5-beak and 6-beak palm thatches to support quarantine checkpoints against the heat. Photo: Huy Thu
In recent days, many communes such as Thanh Chi, Thanh Duc, Hanh Lam, Thanh Huong... have organized activities of cutting bamboo, chopping ash, clamping thatch to build houses, supporting quarantine checkpoints. Responding to the movement, members of organizations and local people have actively made paintings both at noon and at night. Under the electric lights, the painting clamping activities in the communes took place vigorously, lasting until late at night. Photo: Huy Thu
With the spirit of "fighting the epidemic like fighting the enemy", local people do not mind the heat and hardship to go into the valley to cut bamboo, climb trees and cut palm leaves... as long as they have thatch to support the quarantine checkpoint. Photo: Huy Thu
Not only young people, women, and veterans, but also some elderly people with good health still participate in making paintings with their children and grandchildren. Mrs. Vo Thi Hoa (92 years old) in Hamlet 3, Thanh Huong Commune, although old, is still enthusiastic about making thatch to cover anti-epidemic posts. Photo: Huy Thu
After completing a certain number of paintings, the communes' unions will use cars to transport these bamboo paintings to quarantine checkpoints, coordinate with local forces to organize the construction and roofing of houses. Photo: Huy Thu
The construction of thatched houses at quarantine checkpoints is taking place urgently, thanks to the cooperation of many forces. In just one session, the units will complete a temporary house of 1-3 rooms made of bamboo and thatch. Photo: Huy Thu
To prevent the thatches from flying or flipping over, the thatched roofs are carefully braced and tied, ensuring good protection from rain and heat. Photo: Huy Thu
Ms. Chu Thi Hao - President of the Women's Union of Thanh Huong Commune (Thanh Chuong) said: On this occasion, the organizations and people in Thanh Huong Commune have made hundreds of palm paintings to support 2 quarantine checkpoints in Dai Dong and Thanh Phong communes. "Bamboo and palm are locally available materials, within 1 day and night of mobilization, we have enough paintings and bamboo to support 1 quarantine checkpoint. After completing the support for 2 quarantine checkpoints, we will continue to support a number of other quarantine checkpoints" - Ms. Hao said. Photo: Huy Thu
In recent days, many quarantine checkpoints in Thanh Chuong district have been "painted". Along with donating to the epidemic prevention vaccine fund, supporting necessities, vegetables and fruits for quarantine areas in the province and quarantine checkpoints in the district, supporting bamboo thatches to cover the checkpoints to prevent heat has practical significance for the force on duty at the checkpoints, contributing to the community's efforts to fight the epidemic.
