Woman used a sickle to cut open the head of her neighbor's mother and child
(Baonghean.vn) - Although they have been neighbors for many years, because of a small conflict from before, defendant Ho Thi Loan (Yen Thanh) used a sickle to "deal with" her neighbor.
On November 21, 2019, the People's Court of Nghe An province heard the appeal of the case of "Intentionally causing injury" against the defendant Ho Thi Loan (born in 1977); residing in Hamlet 7, Dai Thanh Commune, Yen Thanh District.
According to the case file: Ms. Loan has repeatedly quarreled, cursed, destroyed property, and caused disorder in the locality. In particular, Ms. Loan has had conflicts with Ms. T. - her neighbor for many years.
On the afternoon of March 10, 2019, when Mrs. T. had just left her daughter-in-law's house, Mrs. Loan picked up a sickle and started cursing. Seeing this, Mrs. T. went into another house to hide. Seeing this, her daughter-in-law immediately called the neighborhood committee to come and resolve the matter.

Even though the village chief and secretary came to stop her, Ms. Loan still used the sickle to cut Ms. T's body. Then, she continued to use the sickle to cut Ms. T's daughter-in-law's head twice. The incident only stopped when the village secretary intervened and threw the sickle away.
Even though the sickle was thrown away, Mrs. Loan continued to struggle and fight with her daughter, Mrs. T.
According to the conclusion of the forensic examination of Nghe An province, the physical injury caused by Ms. Loan to Ms. T.'s daughter-in-law was 1%. The People's Court of Yen Thanh district reviewed the file and based on the circumstances, decided to sentence the defendant Ho Thi Loan to 6 months in prison for the crime of "intentionally causing injury". Because they did not agree with the verdict of the People's Court of Yen Thanh district, both the defendant and the victim filed an appeal.
At the appeal hearing, the panel of judges stated that during her time living in the locality, the defendant Loan had repeatedly quarreled, cursed, destroyed property, and caused disorder in the locality. However, the mitigating circumstances were that the defendant committed the crime for the first time in a less serious case; before and during the crime, the defendant had limited cognitive capacity and behavioral control.
After reviewing the case file, the panel of judges decided to uphold the original verdict of the People's Court of Yen Thanh district. Sentenced defendant Ho Thi Loan to 6 months in prison for "disturbing public order".
