Woman in Do Luong fined for selling 18 kg of pesticides containing banned substances
(Baonghean.vn) - Ms. Kieu was caught red-handed selling 18 kg of pesticides on the list of banned pesticides in Vietnam.
Mr. Le Hong Vinh - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee has just signed a decision to administratively sanction Ms. Le Thi Kieu, residing in Thuong Son commune (Do Luong) - owner of an agricultural supplies store in the area.
Previously, during the inspection, the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection (Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Nghe An) discovered that Ms. Kieu had traded 18 kg of plant protection drugs containing the active ingredient Trichlorfon - on the list of plant protection drugs banned from use in Vietnam.
For trading in pesticides in the list of pesticides banned from use in Vietnam, Ms. Le Thi Kieu was fined 25 million VND.

In addition, Ms. Kieu was also found selling pesticides that were not on the list of pesticides allowed for use in Vietnam. The value of these pesticides was more than 4.8 million VND. Ms. Le Thi Kieu was fined 4 million VND for this act. The total amount of fines that Ms. Le Thi Kieu had to pay was 29 million VND.
Ms. Kieu’s facility was also stripped of its certificate of eligibility to trade in plant protection drugs for 2 months from the date the penalty decision took effect. Ms. Kieu was also forced to destroy the above-mentioned infringing exhibits.
Trichlorfon is a banned substance used in the control of pests and diseases in rice, soybeans and aquaculture. Trichlorfon is highly toxic. When absorbed into the human body, it causes tongue-tiedness, weakness, loss of reflexes... More seriously, it can cause irregular heartbeat, unconsciousness, convulsions, mental disorders, and even death...
