Orange growers from 5 provinces in the North Central region visit Dong Thanh orange garden (Yen Thanh)
(Baonghean.vn) - Within the framework of the Agricultural Forum with the theme "Solutions for effective citrus production development in the North Central region", delegates from 5 provinces in the North Central region and orange growing districts in Nghe An province went on a field trip and visited some orange development models in Yen Thanh district.
On the afternoon of November 14, the delegation visited the orange gardens of the "Project on safe orange and grapefruit production associated with the value chain in the provinces of the North Central region" with the provincial Agricultural Extension Center as the project owner.

The project is implemented in 4 districts: Yen Thanh, Thanh Chuong, Tan Ky and Nghi Loc, with 26 households participating on a total area of 20 hectares. The total cost of implementing the project in Nghe An is over 1 billion VND, implemented in 2 years from 2017-2019.
After nearly 2 years of project implementation, all households participating in the project have mastered the process of caring for oranges and grapefruits; how to operate and maintain drip irrigation systems, water-saving irrigation, etc.

Besides visiting the drip irrigation system for oranges, the delegates shared and learned experiences in intensive care, such as pruning techniques, using electric lights to prevent some types of pests...
The orange gardens are now in their 5th year, the orange trees are growing well, the average canopy diameter is 4m, the average number of fruits is 200 fruits/tree, the fruits are growing evenly, the peel has changed color, reaching 4-5 fruits/kg.

Tomorrow, November 15, the Agricultural Forum with the theme "Solutions for effective citrus production development in the North Central region" will be organized by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in coordination with the National Agricultural Extension Center in Vinh City.
