High risk of flooding and flash floods in Nghe An

(Baonghean.vn) - Floods in the upper reaches of Ngan Sau River (Ha Tinh) are fluctuating at their peak, while floods in the lower reaches of Ngan Sau River, Ngan Pho River, La River (Ha Tinh) and the lower reaches of Nghe An rivers are rising.

News from the North Central Hydrometeorological Station at 6:00 a.m. this morning (October 15) said that the water level at 5:00 a.m. on October 15, 2016 was as follows:

- On Ngan Sau River at Chu Le: 15.64m, above level BĐIII: 2.14m; at Hoa Duyet: 9.00m, at level BĐII.

- On Ngan Pho River, at Son Diem: 11.29m, below BĐII level: 0.21m.

It is forecasted that by noon today (October 15), floods in the lower reaches of Ngan Sau River, La River (Ha Tinh), and Ca River (Nghe An) will continue to rise slowly. Floods in the upper reaches of Ngan Sau and Ngan Pho Rivers will recede slowly and may rise again.

By noon today, water levels on rivers are likely to be as follows:

- On Ngan Sau River at Chu Le, the level drops to 15.3m, above level BĐIII: 1.8m; at Hoa Duyet, the level rises to 10.0m, below level BĐIII: 0.5m.

- On Ngan Pho River at Son Diem down to level: 10.0m, at BDI level.

- On La River at Linh Cam, the level is likely to be: 4.8m, above BĐI level: 0.3m.

- On Ca River at Nam Dan, the level is likely to be: 3.5m.

It is necessary to guard against major floods and inundation in the upper reaches of small rivers and streams such as Ngan Sau and Ngan Pho rivers (Ha Tinh) and Hieu, Ro and Gianh rivers (Nghe An)...

Warning:Heavy rain in a short period of time should be on guard against the possibility of flash floods on small rivers and streams, flooding in low-lying areas and a high risk of landslides in the midlands and mountainous areas of Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces as follows:

- Nghe An province: Tuong Duong, Ky Son, Que Phong, Quy Chau, Con Cuong, Anh Son, Quy Hop, Do Luong, Thanh Chuong districts; Tan Ky, Nghia Dan.
