Western Cuisine Restaurant of Nghe An Province hands over wildlife to Pu Mat National Park
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of August 11, Western Cuisine Restaurant of Nghe An located at Lot 08, Phu Yen extended road, Minh Khang urban area, Nghi Phu (Vinh city) handed over a wild cat to the Wildlife Rescue Center of Pu Mat National Park.

Previously, on August 10, while shopping for necessities for the restaurant, Mr. Luong Thanh - Manager of the Western Cuisine Restaurant in Nghe An saw people selling a wild animal, a wild cat (suspected to be a clouded cat) weighing nearly 4 kg. He asked the restaurant's Board of Directors for permission to buy the animal and contacted Mr. Tran Xuan Cuong - Director of Pu Mat National Park, where the Wildlife Rescue Center is located, to donate it and hand it over to the Center for care before releasing it back into the wild.

Through scientific assessment, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung - Officer of the Science Department, Pu Mat National Park said: Cats belonging to the wild cat line are one of the rare cat breeds that are prohibited from buying, selling and transporting according to the spirit of Decree 06-CP of 2019 of the Government on "Management of endangered, precious and rare wild plants and animals and implementation of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Wild Fauna and Flora".
This cat breed has the scientific name Prionailurus bengalensis, has beautiful fur, black dotted fur like a leopard's fur, on the head there are 4-5 dark brown streaks, white striped fur on the belly. Wild cats are present in most countries Japan, Taiwan, India, Singapore... In Vietnam, they are present in most forest areas from North to South with decreasing numbers and are currently listed in the Red Book of Animals of Vietnam.
