Through the work of grasping the situation, at about 3:20 p.m. on June 22, at the inter-village road area of Phan Sao Nam commune, Phu Cu district, the working group of the Criminal Investigation Police Team on criminal - economic - drug crimes of Phu Cu district police, Hung Yen conducted an administrative inspection of Nguyen Van Bang, 45 years old, in Thanh Mien district, Hai Duong due to many suspicious signs.
Through a check on this subject, the police seized a plastic bag containing white crystalline substances, which the subject declared to be methamphetamine weighing 5.1310 grams and 10,235,000 VND in cash. At the police station, Bang confessed to being the abbot of a pagoda in Tien Phong commune, Thanh Mien district, Hai Duong province for the past 10 years, with the dharma name Thich Thanh Huan.
However, due to his love of playing, this monk did not practice meditation but often gathered with local drug addicts to illegally use crystal meth for many years. On June 13, due to not having enough money to support his addiction, this monk stole a bronze bell from the pagoda and sold it for 10 million VND to spend. Currently, Hai Duong Provincial Police have confiscated the bronze bell and returned it to the pagoda.
Based on the investigation documents and the suspect's testimony, on June 23, the Investigation Police Department of Phu Cu District Police, Hung Yen Province, issued a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused and temporarily detain Nguyen Van Bang for illegal possession of narcotics under Article 194 of the Penal Code, and quickly consolidated the case file for handling.
