At 6:00 p.m. on August 10, while on patrol in Muong Hum village, Muong Hum commune, a working group of Bat Xat district police discovered a male subject in the Anh Vinh gas station area acting suspiciously.
The task force conducted an inspection and this person confessed that Lo Lao Ta was hiding a large amount of drugs in his anus. The task force took Ta to the Muong Hum Commune People's Committee for clarification.
After 12 hours of using many methods, from manual to other methods in many hospitals, at 6:00 a.m. on August 11, doctors at Lao Cai General Hospital had to use an endoscopy to remove a 4x5cm heroin package from Ta's anus.
