Putting drugs in his pocket, young man used the excuse of visiting his mother to transport them for hire
(Baonghean.vn) - Using the excuse of visiting his mother in the hospital, Nguyen Van Phuc received drugs to transport from Nghia Dan to Vinh City.
On December 26, Nghe An Provincial People's Court opened a first-instance criminal trial of defendant Nguyen Van Phuc (born 1991), residing in Nghia Thinh commune, Nghia Dan district, for the crime of "“Illegal transportation of drugs”.
The content of the case shows that in mid-July 2023, Nguyen Van Phuc was at home when a person (unknown origin) hired him to transport drugs from Nghia Thinh, Nghia Dan to Vinh City to deliver to someone else. Phuc agreed and was guided to the dike area of the hamlet to get a plastic bag containing crystal meth to bring home to hide.
At around 9:00 a.m. on July 21, 2023, Phuc rented a car and invited a friend to go to Vinh city to visit his mother who was undergoing treatment, but in fact, he went to trade drugs. Before leaving, Phuc took a package of crystal meth hidden in his pants pocket and got in the car to go to Vinh city. There, Phuc met a man in a coffee shop. After agreeing on the transaction location in front of an apartment building on Nguyen Sy Sach street, Vinh city, Phuc and his friend waited there when suddenly the Vinh city police team conducted an inspection and caught them red-handed. The seized evidence included 101.338 grams of crystal meth.
At the trial, defendant Nguyen Van Phuc admitted to the crime. The defendant confessed that due to difficult economic circumstances, when he heard that a strange man hired him to transport drugs, he agreed. If the mission was successful, Phuc would receive 3 million VND as a reward.
In this case, Nguyen Van Phuc does not know the identity, background, and address of the person who hired him to transport and the person who received the drugs, so the investigation agency has no basis to verify. When there are results, they will clarify and handle them later.
Regarding the driver and Phuc's friend, although they were in the same car, they did not know that Phuc was transporting drugs, so they did not commit a crime in this case.
Considering the case comprehensively, the People's Court sentenced Nguyen Van Phuc to 20 years in prison for "Illegal transportation of drugs".
