(Baonghean.vn) - After storm No. 4, many vegetable growing areas in coastal communes: Quynh Minh, Quynh Luong, Quynh Bang... (Quynh Luu) were submerged in water. People are trying to overcome the damage, hoping to revive the largest vegetable farm in the province as soon as possible.

At the Quynh Luong vegetable farm, Mr. Nguyen Van Tue - Chairman of the Commune People's Committee said: The recent rain caused huge damage, the whole commune has over 200 hectares mainly growing green onions, almost completely lost. Preliminary statistics show that the area of damaged vegetables is over 95% of the cultivated area, the damage is up to billions of VND. Photo: Ho Nhat Thanh
Many fields are still submerged in water. Looking at this image, anyone who has ever known the green vegetable fields in the coastal area, bustling with people tending and harvesting all year round, will feel heartbroken. Photo: Ho Nhat Thanh

Although the sun has been shining for several days, many vegetable farms have not been able to drain the water in time. In the Quynh Luong vegetable area, the automatic irrigation system is submerged in dirty water; grass is growing wildly in the "dead" fields. Photo: Ho Nhat Thanh

In an effort to revive the key vegetable growing area, many farmers have started to renovate the land. Mr. Ho Ba Cau in Hamlet 6, Quynh Luong Commune said: His family had 4 sao of onions that were all lost due to flooding, and now they are adding more land to raise the field surface to prevent water stagnation. It will take at least another half month, if the weather is favorable, for farmers to be able to prepare the land to plant new crops. Photo: Ho Nhat Thanh

Not far away, Mr. Ho Dang Truyen's family is also plowing their garden to prepare for planting the autumn-winter vegetable crop. Some households with low-lying fields are bringing in sandy soil from other areas to improve the ground to prevent flooding. Photo: Ho Nhat Thanh
Tuy vậy, một số ít nhà do cải tạo nâng cao mặt ruộng trước đây nên không bị ngập, hành hoa của họ may mắn vẫn còn giữ được. Hộ bà Hồ Thị Hồng, hộ bà Lê Thị Mão (Xóm 5 xã Quỳnh Lương ) do thân ruộng cao, rau màu ít bị ảnh hưởng. Cả cánh đồng rộng lớn chỉ thấy 2 bà đang chăm sóc mảnh rau nhà mình.
However, a few households were not flooded due to the previous renovation of the field, and their green onions were fortunately still preserved. In the entire vast field, there are only two households left, Mrs. Ho Thi Hong and Mrs. Le Thi Mao (Hamlet 5, Quynh Luong Commune). Thanks to the high fields, vegetables were less affected, so they still have some to sell at this time. Photo: Ho Nhat Thanh
Theo ông Nguyễn Văn Tuệ - Chủ tịch UBND xã: Tới đây xã phát động bà con cải tạo đồng ruộng, nạo vét kênh mương nội đồng nhằm tiêu úng triệt để, thay đổi cơ cấu cây trồng, mùa vụ phù hợp tạo điều kiện sản xúat rau màu hàng hóa đạt năng suất cao, nâng thu nhập cho bà con trong xã.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Tue - Chairman of Quynh Luong Commune People's Committee: Currently, many households are pouring more sandy soil from other areas to improve the ground. In the future, the commune will continue to mobilize people to improve fields, dredge canals in the fields to thoroughly drain water, change the crop structure, and appropriate seasons, creating conditions for high-yield vegetable production, increasing income for people in the commune.
