Telling people 'if you go back to your hometown for one day, you don't have to declare', a medical worker in Nghe An was fined

On May 23, Mr. Luong Van Long - Chairman of the People's Committee of Chau Hong Commune (Quy Hop District) said that an employee of the Commune Health Station had just been fined 10 million VND by the People's Committee of Quy Hop District due to errors in medical declaration.

Accordingly, on May 7, a woman from Viet Yen district (Bac Giang province) returned to her hometown in Chau Hong commune to complete some procedures. This woman then went to Chau Hong commune health station to make a health declaration. That day, the commune health station had Ms. Ha Thi Lieu in charge of receiving people's declarations.

"When she got to the station, this woman said she was only going back to her hometown for one day and would be going to Bac Giang tomorrow. So Ms. Lieu said 'if you're only staying for one day, you don't have to make a health declaration'. So people returned home without making a declaration," said the Chairman of the People's Committee of Chau Hong commune.

However, this woman did not stay for just one day but stayed until now. The local authorities later discovered that she returned from Bac Giang but did not declare her health status, so they intended to impose an administrative penalty. When working with the authorities, this woman said that the fault lay with the station's medical staff. The local authorities then decided not to punish the people but to punish the medical staff.
