Anh Son farmers replicate the model of raising chickens on biological bedding
(Baonghean.vn) - In recent years, environmentally friendly organic agricultural production has been widely applied by farmers in Anh Son district. Among them, the model of raising broiler chickens in a biosafety direction, using biological bedding.
The egg-laying chicken farm of Ms. Nguyen Thi Quynh's family in village 7, Cam Son commune is one of the largest farms in the region, earning over 500 million VND in profit each year.
Ms. Quynh shared: Her family's farm has an area of 8 hectares, focusing on raising chickens, goats, fish ponds and growing tea. In particular, her family invested in raising more than 1,000 egg-laying chickens on biological bedding for a very high income.

According to Ms. Quynh, in the past, due to lack of experience, her family raised egg-laying chickens using traditional methods, so the coop had to be cleaned every few days, which was not only time-consuming but also smelly, and there were a lot of flies and mosquitoes, polluting the environment. In addition, chickens raised using traditional methods often suffered from respiratory and intestinal diseases and were slow to develop.
For the past three years, her family has been applying the model.bio-cushionUsing probiotics is very effective. This type of yeast will kill bacteria, deodorize, and help reduce common respiratory and digestive diseases in chickens. Moreover, after selling chickens, the mixture of rice husks and chicken manure can be used as a very effective fertilizer for plants.
Currently, with 4 rows of cages, Ms. Quynh's family raises over 1,000 egg-laying chickens. Thanks to being raised on biological bedding, the survival rate (from 1 day old) is 98.6%. On average, her family collects 300 - 400 eggs per day. After deducting expenses, her family earns nearly 400 million VND per year.

Visiting the farm of Mr. Tran Duy Lon's family in village 8, Khai Son commune, although the livestock is raised on a large scale, it is very clean and has no foul odor. Mr. Lon said: Currently, his family raises 300 broiler chickens per batch, raising 2-3 batches per year. To help the chickens grow healthily, his family uses biological bedding on a 200m2 barn area.2and arrange for the chickens to stay in the coop for the first month, from the second month onwards, let the chickens stay at night and let them out in the garden during the day. Thanks to this method, the chickens exercise regularly and gain weight quickly.
According to Mr. Lon, the process of making bedding is very simple and cheap. Before releasing the young animals into the barn, his family makes bedding by spreading rice husks over the entire surface of the barn with a thickness of 20cm, then fermenting biological yeast and rice bran according to the instructions for 3 days, then spreading this mixture on the floor of the barn.
Every few days (depending on the amount of manure), lightly scratch the surface of the litter once to help bury the manure and keep the litter clean and airy. From this integrated farm model, Mr. Lon earns an annual income of 100 - 150 million VND.
Ms. Thai Thi To - President of the Farmers' Association of Khai Son Commune said: Currently, the whole Khai Son Commune has a total poultry flock of over 37,000. Many years ago, raising chickens on a household scale often had to face a number of dangerous diseases that led to mass flock deaths; the large amount of chicken manure discharged caused environmental pollution, greatly affecting the surrounding living environment.
In recent years, the Khai Son Commune Farmers' Association has focused on promoting and mobilizing people to invest in and apply the process of raising chickens on biological bedding. To support people in model production, in 2020, with the support of superiors, the Khai Son Commune Farmers' Association supported 150 kg of yeast for people to make 3,000m2chicken coop bedding
In addition, the livestock farming households are also transferred livestock farming techniques by cadres, directly participate in making bedding, regularly participate in inspection and supervision to guide livestock farming households to follow the correct technical process and maintain bedding according to regulations. With the effective application of science and technology in farming, farmers in Khai Son commune have confidently expanded the model, thereby helping people to improve their economy and reduce poverty.

Replicating the model of raising chickens on bedding with biological products by farmersMr. Sonis a suitable direction for developing livestock farming towards clean agriculture and sustainable development. Especially in the current conditions, when the land area for developing livestock farming and farms is facing difficulties, especially in densely populated areas, it will significantly contribute to limiting environmental pollution, ensuring disease safety, and improving product quality.
In 2020, Anh Son district supported 750 kg of probiotics, on an area of 15,000 m2, with an amount of more than 60 million VND for farmers in 6 communes: Hung Son, Khai Son, Cao Son, Lang Son, Hoi Son and Tao Son to implement a model of raising chickens on biological bedding, thereby aiming to build a livestock industry that ensures biological safety, gradually helping the district's livestock industry develop sustainably.
