Anh Son farmers produce 'clean' fertilizer
(Baonghean.vn) - In order to take advantage of available waste products in agricultural production and limit the source of waste in livestock farming to the environment, people in Anh Son district have applied the model of composting organic microbial fertilizer from agricultural waste to reduce investment costs, improve economic efficiency and create a source of clean agricultural products.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien's family in village 7, Cam Son commune has more than 5 sao of fertile land and fields used to produce rice and corn of all kinds. Previously, after harvesting, straw and corn stalks were often only used as food for cattle, the remaining unused portion was thrown away in the fields. In addition, Ms. Hien's family also raises 3 cattle, and the daily waste from the herd also has a significant impact on the surrounding environment.

In 2016, Ms. Hien's family, as well as 49 other households in the village, were transferred a model of composting organic fertilizer from livestock waste and agricultural waste by the Anh Son District Agricultural Extension Station. Under the guidance of the agricultural extension officer, she tried it with a quantity of more than 2 tons. After using this type of fertilizer for her crops, Ms. Hien noticed that the crop yield was much higher. Not only that, the soil was also loose, reducing pests and diseases, cleaning water sources and not causing environmental pollution.
Thanks to the clean fertilizer source, the vegetables and fruits produced are also guaranteed in quality because they do not have to use chemical fertilizers. My family as well as the local households here are very secure in using clean products made by themselves.
People can take the initiative in fertilizing with the following simple method: To make 1 ton of organic microbial fertilizer, people only need to use 800 kg of manure, 200 kg of agricultural waste such as straw, corn stalks, sawdust, etc., and 1 kg of microbial products. The above ingredients are mixed together and then composted for about 30 days before being used to fertilize crops. |
Mr. Nguyen Quang Phung, an officer of the Anh Son District Agricultural Extension Station, said: Currently, the district has 250 households in 5 communes of Duc Son, Cam Son, Tam Son, Hoa Son, and Hoi Son applying this pilot model. In practice, the biofertilizer model has been shown to bring high economic efficiency, save costs, and reduce environmental pollution.

Currently, the whole Anh Son district has a total herd of over 37,000 buffaloes and cows, over 60,000 pigs, and each crop farmers produce over 6,200 hectares of corn, rice, and various vegetables. With a large amount of agricultural by-products and waste sources in livestock farming available, farmers can apply the model effectively. This method not only contributes to increasing productivity, creating clean products for the market but also ensures the health of producers and consumers./.
