(Baonghean.vn) - On November 2, in Hanoi, the Department of Economic Cooperation and Rural Development, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development held an award ceremony for outstanding works of the Vietnam Handicraft Products Contest 2022. The Special Prize of the contest was awarded by the Organizing Committee to the product "Set of rattan and bamboo tables and chairs" by Mr. Kha Van Thuong, Tam Bong village, Tam Quang commune (Tuong Duong).

The Handicraft Product Award Ceremony is one of the activities of the Festival.craft villageVietnam 2022 and the opening of the Vietnam Craft Village and OCOP Product Fair. Mr. Kha Van Thuong is the only person from Nghe An to win an award at the Vietnam Handicraft Products Contest 2022. The rattan and bamboo dining table product was made by Mr. Kha Van Thuong's skillful hands using local rattan and bamboo materials.

Mr. Kha Van Thuong's "Rattan and Bamboo Dining Table Set" has successfully surpassed nearly 400 handicraft products nationwide to win the Special Prize. According to information from the Organizing Committee of the Vietnam Craft Village Festival 2022, the contest has nearly 400 products from 190 authors and groups of authors from all three regions of the North, Central and South participating. The contest was launched by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) from June 2022 to a large number of artisans, skilled workers, designers, organizations, individuals, associations and management agencies in localities.

Among the entries, the North had 247 products by 126 authors; the Central had 32 products by 15 authors; the South had 85 products by 49 authors. The products were divided into groups including: ceramic and glass group (37 products); weaving, embroidery, knitting, crochet group (83 products); rattan, bamboo, leaf group (93 products); lacquer, mother-of-pearl inlay, fine art wood group (75 products) and other group (76 products) with the following categories: horn, mother-of-pearl, stone carving, metal, flowers, paintings.

The contest aims to honor, inspire and encourage artisans, skilled workers and handicraft product designers to promote creative ideas, techniques, fine arts, high application and meet the criteria of sustainable development in the period of international integration.

The contest also aims to create an environment for artisans and skilled workers to exchange, learn from experiences, connect to promote trade, expand consumer markets, increase product value; contribute to preserving, maintaining and promoting national cultural identity and spreading traditional values ​​to people, especially the young generation for handicraft products.

Through the contest, the authors have the opportunity to learn and exchange experiences. It is also an opportunity for different professions and craft villages to combine to create new products of high value.

Regarding the bamboo and rattan weaving profession, according to the owner of the Special Prize of the Vietnam Handicraft Products Competition 2022, to make a living and be passionate about the chosen path, in addition to experience and skill, the quality of raw materials and the way of processing raw materials are the decisive factors for the success of the product. The successes of Mr. Kha Van Thuong will be the basis and motivation for local people in Tam Quang, especially those who share the same passion, to have more options in economic development from locally available raw materials.
