(Baonghean.vn) - To limit damage caused by storms, on the morning of September 9, people in the vegetable growing area of Quynh Luu district gathered in the fields to harvest vegetables to avoid storm Conson.
Due to the impact of the stormTyphoon ConsonTherefore, the heavy rain has been lasting for the past few days. In the vegetable growing area in Quynh Luu district, many fields have been flooded. To limit damage when storms hit, farmers in Quynh Minh, Quynh Luong, and Quynh Bang communes are urgently going to the fields to harvest vegetables.
Ms. Ho Thi Ngan in Hamlet 6, Quynh Luong Commune, grows 3 sao of green onions. This morning (September 9), her family mobilized workers to go to the field to harvest the young green onions to avoid damage when the storm hits.

“Of the 3 sao of onions, 1 sao is about to be harvested; the remaining 2 sao were sold before. If there is no storm, it will be harvested in about 10 days. However, the heavy rains in the past few days have flooded the fields, so the family is taking advantage of the opportunity to go to the fields to harvest, hoping to sell as much as possible,” said Ms. Ngan.

Continuous heavy rain in recent days has caused many vegetable fields of farmers to be deeply submerged in water.
Ms. Le Thi Tam, a vegetable grower in Quynh Luong commune, said: “Scallions are being damaged by pests on a large scale. Despite spraying pesticides, they have not recovered; now we have to continue to cope with storms. Farmers must also harvest young vegetable areas to avoid the storm.”

Currently, the total area of vegetables in the communesQuynh Luu beachThere are about 400 hectares left, most of which are green onions. Due to the impact of the epidemic, the prices of vegetables have decreased significantly compared to previous years. Specifically, green onions are currently priced at 3,000 VND/kg, while at this time last year the price was over 10,000 VND/kg; vegetables of all kinds are priced from 3,000 - 4,000 VND/kg.
With the vegetable area being prepared for harvest, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quynh Luu district is directing communes to propagate people to stay in the fields to harvest; at the same time, looking for markets to consume products in time.

Mr. Ho Nguyen Tuan - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quynh Luong Commune (Quynh Luu) said: "Currently, about 2/3 of the vegetable area of the people in the commune have been consumed. For the remaining area, the locality has directed people to harvest, especially in low-lying areas. Regarding the consumption of vegetables, the commune currently has 2 purchasing channels, which are: Traders will purchase for people and the District Fatherland Front Committee will call on units and philanthropists to purchase vegetables in the fields to transport to support people in Vinh city who are implementing Directive 16 of the Prime Minister. It is expected that tomorrow, units will continue to purchase vegetables, helping farmers have more income and avoid damage before storm Conson makes landfall"./.
