Nghia Dan farmers grow environmentally friendly oyster mushrooms

(Baonghean.vn) - Realizing that this is a food favored by the market with a clean and safe growing process, farmers in Nghia Loc commune, Nghia Dan district have boldly borrowed capital to grow oyster mushrooms, both providing a stable income and creating jobs for their hometown people.

With the desire to develop the family economy as well as create jobs and increase income for local people, in 2021, Mr. Duong Van Toan in Hong Thap hamlet, Nghia Loc commune, Nghia Dan district boldly borrowed 450 million VND to grow oyster mushrooms. And the sawdust brought back must be carefully preserved, absolutely not moldy. However, the difficulty for mushroom growers today is the high price of raw materials. If 1 month ago, the price of sawdust fluctuated from 450,000 - 500,000 VND/cubic meter, now it has increased to 650,000 VND/cubic meter, while the selling price of mushrooms remains unchanged, causing a decrease in income. Mr. Toan said: The technical process of growing oyster mushrooms is not difficult, mainly requiring the grower to be meticulous, careful in implementing the correct techniques from selecting seeds, materials to care and harvesting. In particular, the mushroom bags must be hung 10 - 15 cm apart so that when the mushrooms come out, they do not touch each other and are easy to harvest. After harvesting, oyster mushrooms are imported to wholesale markets, traders, and clean food stores in the province at a price of 30,000 - 40,000 VND/kg. The output reaches 2.5 - 3 tons per month, giving Toan's family an income of 75 - 90 million VND, after deducting costs for raw materials, labor... also bringing a relatively stable income. Mr. Lai Van Duong - Chairman of Nghia Loc Commune People's Committee said: The locality is a mountainous commune, about 19 km from the center of Nghia Dan district, people's lives still face many difficulties, therefore, economic development models are always encouraged to be replicated. Growing oyster mushrooms is a sustainable direction when it has stable output and income, creating jobs for local people.
