With 2 hectares of water surface area of the 8-pond system, this year, Mr. Nguyen Van Thuyen's family in Quynh Thanh commune (Quynh Luu) raised 5 ponds, and the remaining 3 ponds are used for water supply. In hot weather conditions with temperatures ranging from 36 - 37 degrees Celsius, his family is focusing on many measures to prevent heat for shrimp farming such as continuously supplying water to the pond to cool the water environment; ensuring adequate food sources, supplementing necessary minerals such as vitamin C. If the weather is sunny, ponds with an area of 3,000 m2 need to drain water 3-4 times/day, then add enough water that has been drained and maintain the level of 1.4 m. This process both prevents harmful impurities in the water and stabilizes the temperature. Clean water after treatment is supplied to the pond to stabilize the temperature in the water environment, helping the shrimp grow healthily. Photo: Viet Hung |

Mr. Hoang Xuan Tin's household in Quynh Bang commune chose to raise shrimp in cement tanks to limit disease in any weather, whether rainy or hot. With an investment of more than 1 billion VND, he built 18 cement shrimp tanks with roofs with an area of 25 - 40 m2, stocking density 220 - 250 fish/m2In the current hot weather conditions, his shrimp farming system will stabilize the temperature day and night, control the amount of food, and prevent loss. In addition to implementing solutions to protect shrimp during the hot season such as increasing water in the pond, adding necessary minerals. Recently, dozens of households in Quynh Luu have invested billions of VND to line the bottom of the pond with black tarpaulin and make roofs to raise shrimp. Currently, about 60% of shrimp farming households in Quynh Luu have invested in lining the bottom of the pond with tarpaulin and 50 households have invested in making roofs to raise shrimp. Applying science and technology to shrimp farming will limit diseases, especially white spots during the hot season. Photo: Viet Hung |
