Tan Ky farmers grow sweet corn, businesses buy it right at the field at high prices

Autumn-winter crop 2022, District Agricultural Service CenterTan Kyimplementing the model of “intensifying sweet corn cultivation according to the value chain”, with the association of the enterprise Dong Giao Food Export Joint Stock Company (Ninh Binh). The model was implemented on an area of ​​24 hectares, in 4 communes: Nghia Hop, Ky Tan, Tan Long and Tan Huong, with 77 farmer households participating.

The model is funded by the National Target Program on New Rural Development for the 2016-2020 period. Accordingly, farmers are supported with 50% of the investment costs.

Harvest time is from February 14 to 28, the enterprise comes to the field to purchase all corn products on the spot at a price of 4,800 VND/kg, so farmers earn nearly 60 million VND for 1 hectare of sweet corn, a profit of about 30 million VND/ha.

Mr. Le Duc Tinh - Director of Tan Ky District Agricultural Service Center said: This is the first model of sweet corn cultivation with linkage in Tan Ky district. The results show that the model brings higher economic efficiency compared to biomass corn production according to farmers' long-standing practice of growing on riverside alluvial land. With the economic efficiency brought, the unit proposed that the District People's Committee continue to mobilize localities to continue to expand the model in the coming time./.
