On the evening of March 18, the Ministry of Health officially announced 8 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the total number of cases in Vietnam to 76.

CASE 69 (BN69):Male patient, 30 years old, German nationality, temporarily residing in Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi. The patient is a tourist, entering Noi Bai on March 13, 2020 on flight SU290.

From March 13 to March 15, the patient went to several locations in Hanoi. On March 15, the patient had a fever, went to several medical facilities, and was then transferred to the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases, Dong Anh facility.

On March 16, 2020, the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology conducted sample collection for confirmation testing, the first preliminary result was positive for SARS-CoV-2.

Currently, the patient is being isolated at the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases, Dong Anh facility, and is in stable health condition.

CASE NUMBER 70 (BN70):Male patient, 19 years old, address in Thanh Xuan, Hanoi. The patient is an international student in the UK, entered Noi Bai on March 16, 2020 on flight TK164. The Hanoi Center for Disease Control conducted a screening test and the patient tested positive for SARS-CoV-2.

The patient and close contacts were taken to the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases, Dong Anh facility, and samples were sent to the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology and tested positive for SARS-CoV-2.

Currently, the patient is being isolated at the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases, Dong Anh facility, and is in stable health condition.

CASE NUMBER 71 (BN71)): Female patient, 19 years old, address in Hai Ba Trung, Hanoi. The patient is an international student in the UK, entered Noi Bai on March 16, 2020 on flight TK164. The Hanoi Center for Disease Control conducted a screening test and the patient tested positive for SARS-CoV-2.

The patient and close contacts were taken to the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases, Dong Anh facility, and samples were sent to the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology for positive results on SARS-CoV-2.

Currently, the patient is being isolated at the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases, Dong Anh facility, and is in stable health condition.

CASE NUMBER 72 (BN72)): Female patient, 25 years old, French nationality. The patient was a passenger on a flight from France to Noi Bai on March 9, 2020, on which there was a case of COVID-19, the patient is the girlfriend of positive case number 60. After that, the patient traveled to several locations in Hanoi and Ninh Binh. On March 15, the patient returned to Hanoi and was quarantined at the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases, Dong Anh facility. The patient's test result at the hospital was positive for SARS-CoV-2. The Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology sent staff to investigate epidemiological information and collect samples, which returned positive.

Currently, the patient is being isolated at the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases, Dong Anh facility, and is in stable health condition.

CASE 73 (BN73): Male patient, 11 years old, address in Thanh Mien District, Hai Duong. The patient returned to Vietnam on flight VN0054 on March 9, 2020. On March 13, 2020, the patient was quarantined at Thanh Mien District Medical Center by the Hai Duong Provincial Center for Disease Control and samples were sent to the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology. On March 17, 2020, the Hai Duong Provincial Center for Disease Control sent the sample back for testing, today the result was positive for SARS-CoV-2.

Currently, the patient is being isolated at Thanh Mien District Medical Center, in stable health condition.

CASE NUMBER 74 (BN74):Male patient, 23 years old, address in Lam Thao, Phu Tho. The patient returned to Vietnam on flight VN0018 on March 16, 2020. After getting off the plane, the patient was taken to the centralized quarantine area of ​​Bac Ninh province and screened for samples to send to the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology with positive results for SARS-CoV-2.

Currently, the patient is being isolated at Bac Ninh Provincial General Hospital, in stable health condition.

CASE 75 (BN75): Female patient, 40 years old, address in District 2, Ho Chi Minh City. On March 4, 2020, the patient traveled from Vietnam to London - UK to visit relatives and here the patient did not come into contact with anyone infected with COVID-19. On March 15, the patient returned to Vietnam on Vietnam Airlines flight number VN50, seat number 10E. Upon entry, the patient had no symptoms of the disease, was transferred to centralized isolation at Cu Chi Field Hospital and had samples taken for testing. Ho Chi Minh City Hospital for Tropical Diseases tested positive on the evening of March 17, 2020. The sample was tested at the Pasteur Institute of Ho Chi Minh City and the result was positive for SARS-CoV-2 on the afternoon of March 18. Currently, the patient continues to be monitored, treated, and isolated at Cu Chi Field Hospital with stable health condition.

CASE NUMBER 76 (BN76):The patient is a 52-year-old male French national, a passenger on flight TK162 who entered Vietnam at Tan Son Nhat International Airport on March 10. From March 10 to March 16, the patient traveled through Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, Hoi An and Hue. The patient arrived in Ninh Binh and had a sample taken for screening and sent to the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, with a positive result for SARS-CoV-2. The patient is currently isolated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Dong Anh, and is in stable health condition.

In Vietnam, as of March 18, 2020, it has been recorded76cases, including16One case has been cured and discharged from hospital; the remaining cases are being treated in hospital.

The total number of suspected cases eliminated is 4,288. The total number of suspected cases being monitored and quarantined is 122 (of which: new cases in the day: 95, old cases being monitored: 22).

The total number of people in close contact and entering from epidemic areas being monitored for health (quarantined) is 42,918 (of which: centralized quarantine at hospitals: 314; centralized quarantine at other facilities: 8,172; quarantine at home or place of residence: 34,443).

The total number of samples tested is 14,950.

Implementing the Prime Minister's direction on COVID-19 prevention and control, the Ministry of Health continues to urgently and closely monitor the epidemic situation nationwide and direct the Pasteur Institute and localities to conduct epidemiological investigations of cases with positive test results, verify people in close contact with patients who tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, isolate and handle outbreaks, and quarantine and monitor the health of contacts.

Organize the implementation of new Guidelines on COVID-19 surveillance and prevention;

Instruct relevant ministries, branches and People's Committees of provinces and cities on organizing quarantine to prevent COVID-19 epidemic.

Guide and support the Department of Health of provinces and cities in implementing the information management system from the national health declaration application.

At the same time, coordinate with relevant ministries and branches to develop guidelines on medical quarantine flow at airports.
