The first female police officer from Nghe An volunteered to join the United Nations peacekeeping force.

UN peacekeeping operations are considered difficult and dangerous, requiring participants to have good health, strong political will, good expertise, good foreign language skills, and survival skills in harsh conditions. For female police officers, these difficulties and challenges are multiplied. However, Captain Le Truong Hoang Nhi - a police officer of Nghia Dan district (Nghe An) always wants to participate.

Captain Le Truong Hoang Nhi, born in 1992. Even when she was in secondary school, the girl wanted to join the Party and the People's Public Security force to contribute her small part to serving the Fatherland and the People.

With that determination, in 2016, Nhi passed the entrance exam to the Fire Prevention and Fighting University. The years of studying and training at school helped the young female soldier love her job more. After graduating, Nhi worked for 4 years at the Fire Prevention and Fighting Police Department No. 3 - Nghe An Province Fire Police. Since 2018, she has been assigned to the Nghia Dan District Police until now.

In 2022, Captain Nhi made a surprising decision to many people: she applied to join the United Nations Peacekeeping Force. Sharing her decision, the female Captain confided that she is a person with a strong, independent personality, wanting to work in unique environments, challenging herself to hone her mettle, capacity, and strong will.

“Above all, I want to wear the uniform of the peacekeeping force, wear the red flag with a yellow star on my left arm to contribute, be proud and honored to be an officer of the Vietnam People's Public Security contributing to the cause of world peacekeeping,” Captain Nhi shared.

In addition, the female soldier also wants to be trained, fight, work and study in a professional international environment. According to Captain Nhi, the United Nations always upholds three core values: professionalism, integrity and respect for differences. From there, she improves her own capacity to be able to contribute fully to the industry, the Party and the Fatherland.

Starting from September 2023, the female Captain has participated in seminars and training courses such as completing the Workshop hosted by the People's Public Security University of China. In December 2023, she participated in training on United Nations peacekeeping for individual police officers at the Training and Professional Development Center 1 - K02 organized by the Ministry of Public Security's Standing Office on United Nations Peacekeeping and UNITAR. During the period from May to July 2024, she participated in training on the deployment of the Peacekeeping Police unit.

During 3 months of training at the United Nations Peacekeeping Police Unit No. 1 in Hung Yen province, as the only female officer holding the position of squad commander or higher among the combat platoons of the FPU1 unit model, she excellently completed her mission and was commended in front of the entire unit.

After participating in the training courses, Captain Nhi shared that she felt grateful for being trained, educated, and exposed to a lot of completely new knowledge and skills; and for meeting many comrades and teammates across the country to learn and share with each other.

The female Captain feels more mature because after the training sessions, she has realized her weaknesses, and from there, overcome them and improve herself. These include skills such as shooting, driving, planning operations, defense and attack skills.

Captain Nhi shared that from the times he participated in the training, he felt very proud. Proud to be a People's Police soldier, a soldier who registered to join the peacekeeping force. Proud to have tried his best, overcome difficulties, challenges, and pressure with his teammates. Above all, he felt that the journey he had taken was truly meaningful.

Although she knows that to be assigned to the Mission, she must pass a difficult UN assessment test, but the female police officer from Nghe An always desires to contribute. Captain Nhi shared that if she is assigned to the mission, she will feel both proud and responsible.

Be proud of the path you have chosen, what you have tried and cultivated will have the opportunity to contribute. If you have the choice, it will be an opportunity to step out into the outside world, to be able to contribute to the work of peacekeeping.

One thing that Captain Nhi felt confident about when joining the United Nations peacekeeping force and especially when taking on the mission at that Mission was the support from his family, along with the support and encouragement of the Party Committee, unit leaders, and teammates. According to Captain Nhi: "In addition to my own efforts and attempts, for me that is the greatest source of encouragement to move forward, to achieve my desire to join the United Nations peacekeeping force."
