Mong female student wins provincial Literature exam with dream of becoming village teacher
(Baonghean.vn) - Born and raised in the border land of Ky Son district, achieving the top score in Literature category B at the provincial level with 16.5 points in the recent 9th grade excellent student exam, but Cu Y Huong has a simple dream of becoming a Literature teacher in the village.
Cu Y Huong - student of class 9A, SchoolKy Son Secondary School for Ethnic Minoritiesreceived the good news of being the valedictorian of Literature from teacher Le Na - the person who had trained and encouraged her to study Literature since her first years in 6th grade. It is impossible to describe the overwhelming joy of Y Huong. For her, this achievement is truly the "sweet fruit" of the months of hard work and studying day and night in class.
Cu Y Huong shared: “I was born and raised in Tien Tieu village, Nam Can commune, Ky Son district, a land covered in fog all year round at the border with Laos. My parents are very poor, and are still near-poor households in the commune. Every day, to provide enough food and clothing for 4 siblings, my parents have to go to the fields from the time the chickens crow early to plant ginger, and only return home when the chickens are in the coop at night. After Y Huong, there are 2 more siblings in 6th and 4th grade, so my parents still have to work hard. Because I love my parents, I promise to try my best to study hard to make my parents happier.”

Since primary school, Y Huong has had a talent for beautiful handwriting. In 6th grade, when she was admitted to Ky Son Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities, her passion for Literature became even deeper.
“When I was young, my family was poor so it was difficult to read a newspaper or a book. At school, I ate, lived and studied right there so I had more time to read books and newspapers. The small library at school was where my passion was inspired. There, I discovered more wonderful things in life" - Y Huong recalled.
When asked about the secret to learning Literature, Y Huong shared that in fact, to be good at Literature, you only need to be persistent and patient in reading books and newspapers, along with passion and sincere emotions. At school, there are more than 10 subjects, so Y Huong does not have much time for Literature. Only in her free time does she go to the library alone to borrow more books and newspapers for reference.

The epidemic is complicated, so to prepare for the excellent student exam, Y Huong reviewed her knowledge during her time at school while teacher Le Na was quarantined because of F0. Photo: Dao Tho |
“During the exam period, the Covid-19 epidemic at school and in the area was complicated. Teacher Le Na, who was my tutor, also tested positive for Covid-19, so to be honest, I was very worried. I was just afraid that if I failed the exam this time, it would make her and everyone sad. But instead of worrying, I found some reference questions to do myself and asked someone to send them to my teacher for correction. She also called me regularly to remind me and went online to tutor me, which made me feel much more confident,” the valedictorian shared.
