Thai female student from Nghe An was honored at the National Festival of Children Overcoming Difficulties and Studying Well
(Baonghean.vn) - At the 2019 National Ceremony to Honor Children Who Overcome Difficulty and Study Well, Sam Thi Bich Yen - a 9B student at Chau Loc Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities (Quy Hop) was one of 56 outstanding children who overcame difficulties and studied well to be honored on June 16.
The 3rd National Festival of Children Overcoming Difficulty to Study Well, 2019 took place from June 14-16 in Ho Chi Minh City with the participation of 278 delegates of children in difficult circumstances who have strived to study well and 80 children's leaders from many provinces and cities across the country; of which 56 children overcoming difficulties to study well were commended and awarded Certificates of Merit by the Central Youth Union and the Ministry of Education and Training.

Attending the festival, Nghe An representatives had 9 students who were typical for their spirit of overcoming difficulties to study well, including Sam Thi Bich Yen, a 9B student at Chau Loc Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities, Quy Hop district, who was one of the typical examples of children who overcame difficulties to study well and were commended.

Bich Yen is the third child in a particularly poor family in Chau Loc commune, Quy Hop district. Her father passed away when she was only 4 years old, leaving her mother to work as a hired hand to raise her four children. However, Sam Thi Bich Yen has always tried her best to study, overcoming all difficulties of her family and herself to become an excellent student for many years in a row and achieving high academic achievements. In the 2018-2019 school year, Yen won second prize in Literature and second prize in the District-level Scientific Research Competition.

Sharing about her future dream, Yen said: “I live in a difficult mountainous area, many children do not have the conditions to study. Therefore, I wish to become a good teacher in the future to bring knowledge to children in the same situation as me, to overcome all circumstances to excel in their studies.”
