Female student from village school in Nghe An achieves highest Literature score in the country

Nguyen Thi Kim Nga was born and raised in a family with parents working in agriculture in Tru Son commune (Do Luong).

Since grade 5 at the village school, little Nga participated in the district's Math competition for children. When she was in secondary school, Nga began to "have a relationship" with Literature. For 4 consecutive years from grade 6 to grade 9, she was an excellent student in Literature at the district level. In grade 8, she was the top student in Literature at the district level; in grade 9, she won third prize in Literature at the provincial level.

In grade 11, Nga continued to win second prize in the province's Literature competition. Not only was she good at Literature, Nga was also good at other subjects.

Before taking the National High School Graduation Exam, in the three graduation mock exams organized by the school, Nga was the top student in block D. The first mock exam scored 25.1 points, the second scored 23 points, and the third scored 24 points.

In this year's National High School Graduation Exam, Nga scored 24.5 points, including 9.5 points in Literature, 8 points in Math, and 7 points in English. The total score was 24.5.

This year's exam, the whole country did not have a perfect score of 10 in Literature, 9.5 was the highest score. With a score of 9.5 in Literature, Nga is one of 10 candidates from Nghe An with the highest score in Literature nationwide.

Talking about her own experience in studying Literature, Nga shared: In my opinion, to study Literature well, first of all, you must have passion, regularly practice writing skills and perception. Read many sample essays of students who have achieved National Excellent Student Awards. Regularly discuss with teachers when you do not understand a certain problem in the lesson, then rewrite it. "Every evening, I usually spend 2 hours studying Literature", Nga said.

Commenting on Nga, Ms. Dang Thi Hiep, Nga's direct Literature teacher, said: "For a teacher like me, meeting Nga is a happiness, because she is always eager to learn and progress; very proactive in studying and communicating with teachers, which makes teachers worry."

"Your academic results also help teachers affirm themselves and be more confident in what they are aiming for," said Ms. Hiep.

The excellent Literature student also has a charitable heart. Right after the National High School Exam, for nearly 15 days now, every evening Nga has organized free tutoring for elementary school children in the neighborhood.

In the family's cramped house, the children's chatter and Nga's lectures seemed to dispel the hot Lao winds, cooling the hearts of her parents and neighbors in a poor countryside known as "squeezing soil into flowers", a place known to many for its hard work and diligence "Tru Son Clay Pot".
