Breaking up a drug trafficking ring from Laos to Vietnam, seizing evidence worth 6 billion VND

Ha Tinh Provincial Police have just coordinated with the Border Guard force to destroy an illegal drug trafficking ring, arresting 5 subjects and seizing a large amount of drugs worth about 6 billion VND.

On the evening of February 18, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hong Phong - Director of Ha Tinh Provincial Police said that the unit had just coordinated with the Provincial Border Guard to destroy a drug trafficking ring.

Previously, at around 7:30 p.m. on February 16, while patrolling Ho Chi Minh Highway, through Village 1, Tho Dien Commune, Vu Quang District, the police caught two subjects, Dau The Anh (born in 1998) and Nguyen Van Tiep (born in 1996, both residing in Huong Son District) transporting illegal drugs.

During the inspection, the task force seized 12 blue plastic bags containing 12kg of ketamine and 5,600 ecstasy pills.

During the arrest, the subjects fiercely resisted and drove away at high speed. However, with a determined spirit of fighting crime, the task force quickly controlled and arrested the subjects.

The subjects confessed that the above drugs were hired by a Laotian to be transported into Vietnam to be delivered to subjects in Quang Binh.

Expanding the case, at around 2:00 a.m. on February 17, the authorities continued to arrest Hoang Van Khuong (born in 1991, residing in Van Trach commune, Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province).

At around 3:00 a.m. the same day, in Ky Tho commune, Ky Anh district (Ha Tinh), the working group continued to arrest Phan Manh Hung (born in 1995, residing in Hoan Lao town, Bo Trach district, Quang Binh) when he was taking a bus to the southern provinces to hide.

Through the investigation, the subjects confessed that they were hired by Dau The Anh and Nguyen Van Tiep to transport the above drugs to the southern provinces for consumption.

Continuing to expand the investigation, at around 8:00 a.m. on February 18, the authorities arrested Nguyen Quoc Cuong (born in 1996, residing in village 1, Son Binh commune, Huong Son district, Ha Tinh), who was the person who connected and operated the drug trafficking and trading ring from Laos to the southern provinces for consumption.

The police agency said that this was a drug trafficking line from Laos to Vietnam through Ha Tinh and then to the southern provinces and cities for consumption in large quantities, divided into many stages, with very sophisticated methods of operation. The subjects confessed that the amount of drugs, if successfully consumed, would be worth about 6 billion VND.

The case is currently under investigation and expansion.
