Hundreds of boxes of 'Covid-19 treatment drugs' of unknown origin discovered
Truong Van An, 40 years old, imported hundreds of boxes of medicine of unknown origin to sell at double the price to make a profit.
The incident was discovered by the Hanoi Police Department of Environmental Police and the Hanoi Market Management Department on the morning of August 31. When inspecting a business location in Dai Mo Ward, Nam Tu Liem District, the police discovered hundreds of boxes of medicine that were said to be able to treat Covid-19 patients. The owner of the facility, when working with the authorities, could not present any related invoices or documents.
The police seized two types of pills, one containing 40 pills and one containing 10 pills. The packaging of the products all had the words “Made in a foreign country” printed on it.

Mr. An confessed that he knew nothing about medicine and went online to buy boxes of medicine for 100,000 to 2 million VND depending on the type, then resold them for double the price to make a profit.
A representative of the Environmental Police Department said that taking advantage of the complicated Covid-19 situation, many people have smuggled goods of unknown origin to sell for profit. To deceive the police, criminals often usesocial networkto advertise and choose hard-to-detect places to hide the goods.
